Wednesday, December 21st, the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics play the first of three scheduled matches. Indy will host on February 23rd while Boston will host again on March 24th.
Both teams last played Sunday with the Pacers losing 106-109 to the Knicks while the Celtics got swept in the baseball series versus the Magic losing 92-95 after dropping the front game 109-117 on Friday.

Haliburton is averaging a double-double of 19.5 points and 10.7 assists plus 4.0 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. He’s shooting 47.0 percent from the field on 15.0 attempts, 38.5 percent from the perimeter on 7.2 attempts, and 87.6 percent from the stripe on 3.1 attempts.

Boston Celtics
After two months of non-stop glowing accolades about the Celtics and their prolific offense, they are dealing with their first adversity.
The Bean Town crew had lost just a handful of games through 26 matches but are 1-4 through their last five. On the recent road trip, warning signs were evident as the Celts wrestled against lower-tier teams.
In the last five matches, Boston has struggled mightily to score in the half-court and their once-lethal reserve unit has disappeared. And while the defense had been ramping up even prior to Robert Williams III’s return there is substantial work to be done on that side of the hardwood.
Given how great the Celtics were shooting and scoring there wasn’t as much attention paid to what was the best defense in the NBA last season. Their recent troubles are the perfect reminder that the common denominator of title winners is they are all top-10 defenses.
They still rank first in scoring, averaging 118.2 points per game but their efficiency has waned dropping to seventh in field goal percentage – 48.1% and fourth in perimeter efficiency of 38.1%.
They’re improving defensively with opponents averaging 112.2 points (13th), 46.6% field goal shooting (12th), and 34.8% from the perimeter (9th).
Jayson Tatum is out Sunday for personal reasons. Danilo Gallinari (ACL repair) is out indefinitely.

Both teams are desperate for a win, and while Boston might’ve been the obvious choice 10 days ago it’s not a given. Like Boston, Indy is 1-4 through their last five matches but they were in every contest with a differential between three and six points in each.
That latter point has me taking the points and Indy to keep it closer than the 9.5 spread.
