Saturday, November 24 the Houston Rockets play the Cleveland Cavaliers for their first time this season. Houston played a home and home series versus Detroit winning on Wednesday and losing to them Friday. This will be the fourth back to back set the Rockets play.
Likewise, the Cavaliers also enter the game on the second night of a back to back, their third this season. Cleveland shocked the 76ers delivering Philly’s first loss on their home court this season. Cleveland also gave the Lakers all they could handle Wednesday, but ultimately succumbed to LeBron James as he propelled his squad to the victory.
Last season, Houston swept the two-game season series. The Rockets hold the all-time record having bested the Cavaliers in 85 of their 129 matches.
After a rough start to the season the Rockets found their footing winning five in a row prior to losing Friday to Detroit.
James Harden scored 43 points in the first game versus the Pistons while Clint Capela (27), Chris Paul (20) and James Ennis (14) were the other double digit performers.
During the five-game win streak, the Rockets registered the top-ranked offense (124) but are still struggling defensively. On the season they rank 11th offensively and 21st on defense. For Houston to continue their ascent up the ladder they’ll need to fix the defensive issues as their differential remains in the negative (-0.1)
Carmelo Anthony is no longer with the team while the Rockets look for a suitable trade partner. Nene (right calf strain) is expected out until early December while Brandon Knight (left knee surgery) has no specific return date.
Certainly, there were mixed feelings as the Cavaliers hosted LeBron James and his Lakers Wednesday. The Cavaliers have gone from being the perennial Eastern Conference finalist representative to the lowest ranked team in the NBA.
There are some positives to pull from like the emergence and growth of Cedi Osman’s game as the youngster led his team in scoring (21) versus the Lakers. Jordan Clarkson has scored in double digits in nine of his past 10 games.
George Hill (sprained right shoulder) is likely out and Sam Dekker (sprained left ankle) is out until December. Kevin Love (left big toe surgery) remains out until January and potentially much longer as per his recent update.
J.R. Smith is also no longer traveling with the team while management seeks a trade partner or makes the decision to waive him.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Rockets are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 head to head contests.
- Rockets are 8-2 in last 10 head to head meetings.
- The over-under is 6-4 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Houston Rockets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Prediction:
Perhaps playing LeBron James Wednesday woke up the Cavs who almost beat the Lakers and then handed the 76ers their first home loss this season.
That said, because Houston lost in Detroit they’ll be determined to get back on track and won’t take the Cavs for granted especially now.
