This Thursday Night match-up will see the Golden State Warriors take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both teams are having horrible seasons and Golden State does not even have ten wins yet.
These two teams have met twice this season. In both games, the home team won, but Golden State has covered in both games.
Golden State Warriors
After a quick four-game winning streak around Christmas, the Warriors have gone back and lost two games in a row. This includes their New Year Eve game against the Spurs where they lost 117-113 in overtime.
This will be their first game of the New Year and while they will not be making playoffs, they will want to at least remain competitive as the season rolls on.
On offense, the Warriors are one of the worst scoring teams in the league. They average just 105.9 points per game, which ranks 24th. The Warriors shoot 43.3% from the field and 33.7% from the three-point line. Both of these rank 26th in the NBA.
Really their leading scorer is D’Angelo Russell. He averages 23.2 points per game, however has only played in 22 of their 35 games. That makes Alec Burks their next best scorer. He is averaging just 15.9 points per game. The Warriors have a couple other young role players, but nothing too special on this current roster.

The Warriors defense has also been horrible this season. They are the 21st ranked scoring defense, allowing 113.4 points per game. During their current losing streak, they are allowing 129 points per game.
They are the worst team at defending the three, allowing 38.7%. Otherwise they allow teams to shoot 47.1% from the field, ranked 24th.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves will play the second night of a back to back in this game. They will play the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday and then will return home to get a much easier test.
Minnesota offensively are doing a decent job this season at scoring. They are the 12th best scoring offense and are averaging 112.2 points per game. Their shooting percentages are way down near the bottom of the league, averaging 43.3% from the field and 32.1% from the three-point line.
The Timberwolves have suffered quite a few injuries this season including their top scorer, Karl Anthony Towns. He was averaging 26.5 points per game before being ruled out indefinitely. Andrew Wiggins is the second highest scorer, averaging 24.8 points per game. He has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game with an illness, so it is yet to be determined if he will play in this game.
Another injury to be mindful of is Jeff Teague. He is doubtful for Wednesday, which also means he could miss this game.
Defense has been a real issue for the Timberwolves this season. They have the 26th ranked scoring defense in the league and are allowing 115.8 points per game.
Even against the Warriors, the loss of a bunch of players is going to hurt them defensively.
NBA Betting Trends:

- MIN are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
Free Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Prediction:
Minnesota will be playing a back to back as mentioned and they are also dealing with heavy injuries. However, they are still better than Golden State and I expect them to win at home.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Golden State Warriors +3
With all the Timberwolves injuries, I like the Warriors to at the very least cover the spread.
