Pistons vs. Cavaliers Gameday
Monday offers up Game 4 between the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers in their semi-finals series. The Cavaliers got into the series with a 116-109 victory in Game 3.
Although the Cavaliers held the early lead, the Pistons roared back to tie the game and make it a competitive contest. Five Pistons scored in double figures, led by Cade Cunningham with a triple-double effort of 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Five Cavs also scored in double digits as Donovan Mitchell exploded for 35 points and 10 rebounds, while James Harden put the nail in the coffin to finish the game.

Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Odds & Last 5
Head-to-head this season, the teams split their four meetings, each winning twice. Cleveland has dominated in postseason matchups, taking three of the four previous meetings, including 2016, when they last met.
Unlike their opponent, I think the Cavaliers didn’t benefit from going the distance in Round 1. They have the most expensive roster in the association and were playing a depleted Raptors squad that was missing their starting point guard and top scorer (for half of the series).
Detroit sewed up the top seed with ample time to spare, allowing the club to ease Cunningham back into rhythm while also taking the final few games to sit and rest their core. They were pushed to the limit in the first round, but that challenge allowed them to dig into their defensive identity and may actually help them in this series.
The Cavaliers are favored by 3.5 points with an over/under of 213.5 points.
Pistons Stats
Detroit ranks 16th offensively (116.8), second defensively (108.7), and tied for third in net rating (+8.1) while running a pace of 100.00, which ranks 19th in the association.
The East’s top-place Pistons average 27.5 assists (13th) and 45.6 rebounds (eighth). Detroit scores 117.5 points per game while its opponents average 109.6 points.
Team leaders* in the key categories are Cade Cunningham for scoring (24.5), assists (9.9), and steals (1.5), while Jalen Duren leads rebounding (10.7), and Isaiah Stewart leads for blocks (1.6).
Perimeter scoring is a weakness for the Pistons, who shoot with an efficiency of 35.3% as a team, with four players shooting over the league average.

Cavaliers Stats
Cleveland ranks sixth (118.3) on offense and 15th on defense (114.1). Additionally, the Cavs rank ninth in net rating (+4.1) and run the 13th quickest pace (100.70).
The East’s fourth-place Cavaliers average 28.5 assists (seventh) and 44.4 rebounds (11th). Cleveland scores 119.5 points per game while their opponents average 115.4 points.
Team leaders* for the Cavs are Donovan Mitchell for points (27.9) and steals (1.5), James Harden for assists (7.7), while Evan Mobley is tops for rebounds (9.0) and blocks (1.7).
As a team, the Cavaliers shoot 36.0% from the perimeter with six players shooting above the league average.

Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers bottom line:
Despite coughing up the ball six times, James Harden and Donovan Mitchell were much more aggressive at home.
Evan Mobley still needs to raise his level of play, particularly on offense, and perhaps this will be the game where he shows up.
It still feels like this series is the Pistons to lose, but the Cavaliers have yet to lose at home in the postseason.
Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Basketball Betting Trends

- Additionally, Cleveland is 3-5 SU in its last 8 games.
Pistons Cavaliers Free Pick: Cavaliers -3.5
Here is my Pistons Cavaliers free pick.
With the most expensive roster in the association, Cleveland finally showed up at home. They were able to get the job done in clutch time, but there are still major areas to fix.
Evan Mobley has yet to arrive at this series, and like I’ve said previously, if he needs to be convinced to play with aggression, it’s a recipe for disaster.
Per John Schuhmann: Live-ball turnovers were an issue in the first round, especially because Toronto seemed to turn most of them almost immediately into transition points. Now the Cavs will face the team (Detroit) that averaged 10.4 steals per 100 possessions in the regular season, the most for any team in the last 13 years.
They aren’t in a must-win scenario, but it will be hard enough to win three of four, so essentially they need this contest to even up the series.
I’ll bank on them taking Game 4 and covering the spread.
