The Pistons entered Wednesday’s match winners of five of their last eight and had Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin returning after missing the previous game due to an eye infection and knee soreness respectively.

Even with them back in the lineup, it wasn’t enough to overtake the Raptors losing 112-99.
Andre Drummond posted a double-double of 22 points and 18 rebounds. The trio of Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, and Bruce Brown scored 15, 16 and 12 points respectively.
On the season Drummond is averaging a double-double of 17.8 points and 16.7 rebounds which tops both categories on the team. In fact, Drummond also tops field goal percentage (54.6 percent), steals (1.7) and blocks (1.8). The only category he doesn’t lead is assists where Derrick Rose holds the honor dishing an average of 6.0 dimes per game.
Luke Kennard is nursing bilateral knee soreness while Blake Griffin addresses continuing knee soreness with neither expected to play against the Celtics on Friday.
Christian Wood was forced to leave the game Wednesday after sustaining a knee injury and won’t play Friday.
Khyri Thomas (surgery on finger) is out until late December and Reggie Jackson (back) is out until the New Year.
Boston Celtics
Following consecutive losses, the Celtics got back on track with a big win in Dallas. They return home where they’ll play 12 of their next 18 games and 13 of those 18 versus sub .500 teams.
In the win over the Mavericks, Boston had to rally from behind. The new big three of the Celtics led the way in collecting the victory. Kemba Walker was the top scorer with 31 points.
He was joined by Jaylen Brown who fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. Jayson Tatum added 24 points. Although no reserve hit the double-digit scoring mark Enes Kanter did collect 13 rebounds.
On the season, Kemba Walker is the team leader in scoring (23.5) and assists (5.2). Jaylen Brown tops the rebound (7.0) and field goal percent (49.7) categories. The hustle categories are led by Jayson Tatum who grabs 1.4 steals per game and Daniel Theis who swats 1.5 blocks per game.
Injury issues for Gordon Hayward continue to be a problem as he missed the game in Dallas with left foot soreness. Hayward was scheduled for an MRI after a cortisone shot didn’t alleviate the pain but made it worse. Subsequently, his presence in the game Friday is questionable.
Tacko Fall has a knee contusion that caused him to miss the last two games and is questionable to play. Marcus Smart missed the last four games with the combination of an eye infection and illness and won’t play Friday.
Robert Williams III will miss the next three weeks with swelling in his hip. Vincent Poirier is out until late January following surgery to repair his fractured right pinky finger.
