Wednesday, December 28th, the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings meet for the second of three scheduled matches this season.
The teams played Tuesday on the front side of a back-to-back baseball set with the Nuggets winning 113-106. Denver will host the final meeting on April 9th.

In spite of Domantas Sabonis being out, the Nuggets fell behind by 20 points with most of the damage occurring while Jokic sat.
The Nuggets’ main issues are scoring with Jokic sits, not playing with their food (they flirt with letting teams out to big leads or coughing up their own big leads), and playing defense for the full 48 minutes.
They seemingly addressed part of that big three equation as Michael Porter Jr. and Jamal Murray are both starting to round back into the form they displayed prior to their injuries.
That was the difference in this match as MPJ scored 30 (5 of 9 from deep) while Murray offered 25 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals.
Jokic continued to threaten a triple-double season aided by his 20 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds effort (his season average is 25.4 points, 11 rebounds, 9.4 assists.)

Although the Nuggets need to improve defensively an interesting side note to this squad is when they need to shut down a team they are able to up their effort. That’s why their fourth quarter and clutch time defense is so much better than the game averages.
On the season, Denver ranks 17th for opponent scoring allowing 114.1 points per game, while foes shoot 48.5% from the field and 36.4% from the perimeter ranking 27th and 22nd overall.
Aaron Gordon (shoulder) missed Tuesday and is likely to be joined by Bruce Brown who exited the game after injuring his ankle as well as Murray and MPJ who might not play if the team opts for injury/rest management.
Jeff Green (left finger sprain/hand fracture) and Collin Gillespie (leg fracture) are out.
Sacramento Kings
Initially, the belief was Domantas Sabonis would play through his injury but he was absent on Tuesday as was head coach Mike Brown who is quarantining after testing positive for COVID.
Sabonis suffered an avulsion fracture of the ulnar collateral ligament of the right thumb. The Kings responded to his absence by coming out with energy but really missed his presence in the second half and down the stretch.
Offensively, the Kings are among the very best in the association with the second-best scoring output averaging 118.1 points per game.
Similarly, they perform well in the proficiency areas ranking fourth-best for field goal percentage registering 48.7% while they rank a respectable 15th for perimeter percentage shooting 35.5% from deep.
Sacramento ranks 24th in opponent scoring allowing 116.2 points per game while foes shoot 48.5% from the field and 36.7% from the perimeter ranking 26th in both categories.
Sabonis (thumb) didn’t play Tuesday and is questionable for Wednesday.
