Denver Nuggets
Denver has lost each of the first two games of its East Coast road trip. They came in back-to-back nights against Boston and then Washington.
Nikola Jokic had another 40-burger against Boston but it didn’t stop the Celtics winning by double-digits. Jokic had another 33 with nine assists and seven boards against the Wizards, which won 130–128.
Jamal Murray had 35 but he was matched by Washington’s Davis Bertans, who went 9-for-11 (all three-pointers) and made all eight of his free throws off the bench.
That sort of effort was too much for the weary Nuggets, who not only had travel between their back-to-back but have been dealing with a slew of injuries.
Will Barton, PJ Dozier and Paul Millsap all missed yet another game. Jokic actually found himself on the injury report but played.
Denver did get Gary Harris back for the first time this month. The Nuggets were so eager to get some scoring help for Jokic and Murray they started him right away but he was clearly rusty.
Harris finished with just two points on 1-of-5 from the field and two turnovers in 28 minutes.
This one in Cleveland and then one more on Sunday in Atlanta remain before Denver gets home. The Nuggets can’t wait until then to get back to winning games, though.
They are in the last playoff spot out West with Memphis and Dallas playing fairly well behind them. The Nuggets must do what they can to keep their heads above a rising tide of injuries.
Cleveland Cavaliers
It’s getting ugly for the Cavs. They’ve lost eight games in a row. One was by six points but none of the others were any closer than 17.
Of course, the list of injuries is long. Kevin Love remains out; Larry Nance Jr. is out; Taurean Prince and Dylan Windler missed the last game; and Andre Drummond isn’t playing because the Cavs want to trade him.
The Warriors torched Cleveland by 31 points in the most recent game. Collin Sexton and Darius Garland played more than 80 minutes between the two of them and each attempted 20 shots from the field.
Neither made as many as ten and finished with 39 points, combined. Cleveland finished 8-for-30 from the field as a team.

Free Denver Nuggets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Prediction: Denver, but not by enough.
The Cavaliers are catching huge numbers and for good reason.
Denver has to win this one. It will come in with that sort of mentality but it may be discouraging at just how much the Nuggets will have to fight and claw to get this win.
The Nuggets win but not by double-digits.
