Cavaliers vs. Raptors Gameday
Game 3 between the #4 Cleveland Cavaliers and #5 Toronto Raptors occurs on Thursday at 8:00 with the hometown team looking to get into the series.
Cleveland took care of business, winning both their home games and looked good doing it. Toronto made some runs, but the match never felt in jeopardy. That said, the Raptors may have stumbled upon something at the end of Game 2.
Four Cavs scored in double figures, led by their backcourt as Donovan Mitchell (30 points/seven rebounds/five assists) and James Harden (28 points/five rebounds/four assists/five steals) dominated.
Scottie Barnes, who prefers to dish dime,s stepped up and led the Raptors with 26 points, four rebounds, five assists, and three stocks. He joined four other teammates who also scored in double figures.
Brandon Ingram had a rough outing, scoring just seven points (3 of 15), and will need to step up if Toronto is to compete in this series.
Cleveland took full advantage of the Raptors’ matchup issues and seeming confusion by once again winning by double digits (115-105).

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Toronto Raptors Odds & Last 5
Head-to-head this season, the Raptors swept the Cavaliers 3-0, but learned quickly in Game 1 that the Cavs are a very different team with James Harden in the lineup.
The clubs have a playoff history, having faced each other three times in prior seasons, with the Cavaliers dominating with two sweeps and a 4-2 series win. They last played in the 2018 season when LeBron James and Co. took them out, and LBJ famously gave praise to the Scotiabank crowd after the series win.
Coming into the playoffs, the Raptors were 3-2 through their last five matches, while the Cavs arrived on a hot streak, having won five of their last six contests.
Cleveland is favored by three points while the over/under is 219.5 points.
Cavaliers Stats

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Toronto Raptors bottom line:
There has been a commonality in both Cavs wins as the Raptors big man, Jakob Poeltl, couldn’t stick with the bigs or the small backcourt. Repeatedly, Cleveland exposed him, leading to Darko Rajakovic starting the rookie Collin Murray-Boyles in the second half. (Toronto lost that frame by just three points)
The other elephant in the room is that the Raptors need Immanuel Quickley back for his playmaking, pace-setting, and perimeter scoring. Asking Jamal Shead (who is a wonderful backup) to carry the load is proving too much.
We’ll see if Darko makes changes to his starting lineup based on these facts and whether Quickley will be healthy enough to play.

Cavaliers Raptors Free Pick: Cavaliers -3.5
Here is my Cavaliers Raptors free pick.
Cleveland will be going for their 13 consecutive playoff win versus Toronto in this match, which on its own should be enough to warrant 100% effort from the Dinos.
Or perhaps they can learn a lesson from the Hawks and the Timberwolves, who elected to go at the offensive talents of their opponents on the defensive end of the court. The resulting effect was that those stars looked fatigued to close the game.
That’s what Toronto needs to do with Harden and Mitchell, who are both having it far too easy on that side of the hardwood. Quickley returning would certainly help, but he is questionable.
The key for the Raptors is holding opponents under 120 points. When they do they win and when they don’t they lose. Game 1 only cemented that stat.
Pace remains the biggest issue for Toronto as the Cavs have controlled that area of the game, and it’s paid dividends until late in Game 2 when Barnes took over and pushed the ball repeatedly.
The other issue was turnovers… Toronto either won or was close in all the key categories except 3-pointers and turnover, which they had 22 of, leading to 22 points. If they can keep pushing the pace and clean up the miscues, I still think they can be competitive.
I’ve been wrong twice about these Raptors, but I’ll roll the dice once more because they have to win this contest, or even Raps fans will be bringing brooms for Game 4.
