Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers and Magic run it back on Wednesday night after Orlando took the first meeting on Monday, 103–83.
Cleveland was just too short-handed without Kevin Love, Darius Garland and Isaac Okoro. It also lost Dante Exum to a calf strain less than a minute into the game.
Collin Sexton scored 24 points on efficient shooting but with six turnovers. Cedi Osman had 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in big minutes off the bench, replacing Exum.
Love, who has a calf strain, will remain out. Garland, who missed his first game of the season after averaging over 17 points in the first six, is questionable with a shoulder sprain. Okoro’s status remains day-to-day with a foot problem but he hasn’t played since Boxing Day.
It would be a surprise for Cleveland to have the record it does if all its players had been healthy. The Cavs have been an even bigger surprise considering the injuries.
It sure seems that Cleveland needs Garland back in order to compete with Orlando, however. The offense is just too depleted without another playmaker next to Sexton.
Orlando Magic
Cleveland’s injuries are Orlando’s gain. The Magic got 47 points from the starting combination of Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon in the 20-point route.
Terrence Ross and Khem Birch scored in double-figures off the bench. Birch finished with a double-double of 12 points and 12 boards.
Rookie Cole Anthony scored a modest nine points in consistent bench minutes. He’s getting a good opportunity to cut his teeth with Evan Fournier out with a back injury.
Fournier has missed the last two games with spasms but should not be out long-term. He’s Orlando’s fifth double-digit scorer and a key man on the perimeter with a career three-point shooting percentage of 37.5.

Free Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Orlando Magic NBA Prediction: Orlando sweeps.
Wait and see about the Cavs’ injuries (and Fournier’s for that matter). No Garland should mean another Orlando win.
Even if he is back, I still lean the Magic to win straight-up because of the advantage in playmakers. The Cavs have some pieces but the overachieving will only last so long, especially if some key players don’t return soon.
