At first glance, the Cavs’ victory over the Grizzlies was among their best performances this season versus one of the elite teams.
Under closer examination, however, this was a game played without the benefit of two starters and core contributors.
To wit, Steven Adams is out healing from a PCL strain and Jaren Jackson Jr. sat for injury management. Moreover, the lapse in judgment by Dillon Brooks also sent him to the showers early.
That meant Memphis was missing three starters and arguably their best defenders. To the Cavs’ credit, they dealt about as well as could be expected with Dillon Brooks’ bonehead cheap play and losing Mitchell in the process rallying around each other to collect the ‘W’.

Offensively, Cleveland scores 111.6 points per game ranking 28th while shooting 48.5% from the field and 36.7% on the perimeter ranking sixth and 10th respectively.
Cleveland tops the league for opponent scoring limiting foes to an average of 106.9 points per game. Cavs opponents shoot 46.6% from the field and 37.2% from deep ranking ninth and 28th.
Injury Report

- Caris LeVert (hamstring) is questionable
- Dylan Windler (ankle) is out indefinitely.
Indiana Pacers
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder and in the case of Tyrese Haliburton that was definitely true.
Immediately, the Cinderella Pacers became one of my NBA League Pass darlings but while the Pacers PG was sidelined Indy stumbled and the highly entertaining offense disappeared with him as Indy went 1-10.
Top players are defined by their talent and production but the very upper echelon of stars impact winning while improving everyone around them. If there was ever any question Haliburton belongs in that elite top tier he answered those questions immediately upon his return.
Although they are 1-1 the Lakers’ loss was by a single point and in his second game back, Indy beat the West’s third-place Kings. Not only is Tyrese an ascending talent, but the team’s identity also emanates from him.

The Pacers average 114.9 points per game ranking 12th while shooting 45.9% from the field and 36.3% from deep ranking 25th and 13th.
Defensively, Indy allows 117.2 points per game (24th) while opponents shoot 47.34% from the field and 37.1% from the perimeter ranking 17th and 26th.
