A couple of early surprise teams connect in this one. (This is being written before the conclusion of the Hawks/Nets round two)
Cleveland is hoping their young backcourt can lead to short, medium and long term success.
Atlanta is still trying to sort out which players fit best with their top guard Trae Young.
Cleveland Cavaliers
A 3-2 record is hardly a blazing start but Cavs fans will take it. They did just get hammered by Indiana though.
In the loss “Sexland” was in full effect, scoring 49 points. The rest of the team struggled though.
Cleveland is dealing with a couple of key injuries. Kevin Love is out of commission again and not expected to return until late in the month and rookie Isaac Okoro looks like he will move another game with a foot injury.
Andre Drummond remains mister consistency. He has had a double-double in every game this season.
No Love really hurts their depth. At the very least he is a threat if he is on the court off the bench and the reserves have been pretty punchless. No sub scored more than 7 points in the loss to Indiana.
That lack of production off the bench puts a little too much on Sexton and Garland. They have clearly taken a step forward this season but they are not quite at the level of the elite backcourts in the league.
This is a game where the Cavs might be catching Atlanta in a tough spot.
Atlanta Hawks
Even though the Hawks took a recent loss to Brooklyn in a thriller there are a lot of positive for Atlanta right now.
For starters, the Hawks are the top-scoring team in the NBA. Trae Young is leading the way there with 33ppg. On this team he may be able to keep that up even if the is not the most efficient scorer.
Depth takes a hit with Danilo Galinari out with an ankle injury. He was their big free agent acquisition and he gives them a truly proven scorer and someone who can help space the floor for Young. Other veteran reserves Rajon Rondo, Kris Dunn and Tony Snell have yet to be factors.
Atlanta definitely looks better than Cleveland this season but they are going to be banged up for this game and after playing the Nets in back to back game they might be a little spent.

Free Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction:
No line yet for this one with the Hawks playing Friday night. I would think they are going to be small favourites unless there is an injury.
I really like Cleveland in this spot. To win outright against an Atlanta team that is likely a little winded and less interested against the Cavaliers.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Take Cleveland on the ML
Taking the points works too. Just look for a slower-paced game where Sexton outshines Young.
