Friday, January 6th, the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers will play the second of four scheduled contests. The next two games will feature a home and home set in Philly on March 20th and Chicago on March 22nd.
Philly won the initial meeting 114-109 on October 29th extending their current win streak versus the Bulls to 12 games in a row.
Both teams last played on Wednesday with the Nets’ 12-game winning streak coming to an end courtesy of the Bulls (112-121) while the 76ers beat the Pacers (129-126).
Last season, the teams played four times with the 76ers sweeping the season series. The 76ers hold the all-time record having bested the Bulls in 132 of their 238 matches.

Chicago Bulls
Last season the Bulls crushed the lower-seeded clubs and tankers but had an abysmal record against the elite teams.
It’s a complete reversal of circumstance this season as Chicago has repeatedly beaten the upper echelon while losing to the lower seeds.
Case in point, the Nets were the hottest team in the association and during their 12-game win streak had defeated the better Eastern clubs like the Pacers, Bucks, and Cavaliers.
So even with the shift in trends by the Bulls this year stopping that Nets train didn’t seem likely. And that’s why projecting who’ll beat the spread and win these matches is never easy– there are no guarantees.
Chicago scores 114.5 points per game ranking 14th while they shoot 48.7% from the field and 36.8% from the perimeter ranking fifth and 10th respectively.
Defensively, they allow 115.5 points per game ranking 18th. Their opponents shoot 47.8% from the field and 37.2% from the perimeter ranking 22nd and 29th respectively.
Alex Caruso (ankle) and Javonte Green (knee) are questionable while Lonzo Ball (knee) remains out.
Philadelphia 76ers
Despite injuries, the 76ers have managed to keep winning enough to stay in the mix for a home-court seed. Each of the Big 3 has missed games with Tyrese Maxey being out the longest.
Reading the injury reporting citing Joel Embiid being out with a sore foot always is concerning given the big man’s struggles early in his career with foot injuries.
This season, the 76ers score an average of 112.6 points per game ranking 18th. Philly shoots 47.8% from the field and 38.1% from the perimeter, ranking 12th and fifth respectively.
Defense is where the 76ers make their mark allowing the second-fewest opponent points per game with 108.7 and the best perimeter defense at 33.5% while ranking ninth for opponent field goal percentage allowing opponents to shoot 46.3%.

With Embiid not playing it makes this an easier choice and I’m electing to go with both trends continuing, so take the Bulls and the points but also Philly winning.
