Tuesday, December 20th, finds the Chicago Bulls facing the Miami Heat in the second of three scheduled matches. Chicago will host the final meeting on March 18th. The Bulls won the initial season opener on October 19th (116-108).
Chicago arrives having been routed 126-150 by the Wolves on Sunday while the Heat defeated the Spurs 111-101 on Saturday.
Last season the clubs played four times with the Heat sweeping all four contests. The Heat holds the all-time record with 62 wins in 123 matches versus the Bulls.

Chicago Bulls
This season has not gone according to plan and that point got driven home by the undermanned Wolves who dropped 150 points on the Bulls! Chicago’s front office must be reeling because losses of this nature only serve to pinpoint the weaknesses of the roster.
THIS is not what Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley anticipated for the season and it’s become crystal clear the roster as constructed isn’t working.
Sure, Zach LaVine can score 30 to 50 points on any given night, Nikola Vucevic delivers double-doubles approximately 50 percent of the time, and DeMar DeRozan remains the mid-range assassin. BUT — their defensive failings are also keys to why Chicago is struggling.
DeRozan is averaging 25.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. He’s shooting 50.4 percent from the field on 17.9 attempts, 31.0 percent from the perimeter on 1.4 attempts, and 89.1 percent from the stripe on 8.2 attempts.
Chicago scores 113.2 points per game ranking 15th while they shoot 48.1% from the field and 36.5% from the perimeter ranking seventh and 10th respectively.
Defensively, they allow 115.1 points per game ranking 20th. Their opponents shoot 48.0% from the field and 37.9% from the perimeter ranking 24th and 29th respectively.
Javonte Green (knee) is questionable for Tuesday. Lonzo Ball (knee) remains out indefinitely. Malcolm Hill, Carlik Jones, Marko Simonovic, and Dalen Terry are all with the G League team.
Miami Heat
Six of the Bulls’ initial wins came in the first 12 games while the Heat struggled to start the season but have seemingly found their stride winning nine of their last 13 games.
Offensively, the Heat score 108.1 points per game (29th rank) shooting 45.1% from the field (26th) and 34.3% from the perimeter (23rd).
Defensively, the Heat allow opponents to score 109.0 points per game ranking fifth. Miami opponents shoot 47.1% from the field and 35.5% from the perimeter ranking 17th and 14th respectively.
As of posting Miami hadn’t submitted their official injury report yet. That said the presumption is Kyle Lowry (knee), Caleb Martin (ankle), Gabe Vincent (knee), and Udonis Haslem (Achilles) will likely be questionable again. Omer Yurtseven (ankle surgery) is out.
