Sunday, January 17th finds the Chicago Bulls play the Dallas Mavericks for the second and final time this season. In the first match on January 3rd, the Bulls won 118-108.
The Mavericks hold the all-time record between the clubs with 41 wins in 79 meetings. Last season, the teams played twice and split the season series.

The student got the better of the mention on Friday night as Billy Donovan’s Bulls lost in overtime to Mark Daigneault’s Thunder.
Daigneault served as an assistant to Donovan on the OKC bench but their relationship began in Florida State where the young prodigy began working with the Gators.

As per usual, Zach LaVine led the way with an impressive 35 points, seven rebounds, and six assists but turned his ankle late in overtime.
Wendell Carter Jr. delivered a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Each of the starters reached double-figure scoring.
While LaVine led the team, Coby White came close to registering a triple-double with 22 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists plus hit four of his nine 3-point attempts.
Lauri Markkanen scored 16 and Patrick Williams chipped in 14 as the other double-figure contributors. The Bulls bench failed to measure up, scoring only 22 points as they got outscored by twenty with the Thunder reserves scoring 42 points.
Chandler Hutchison and Thomas Satoransky both tested positive for COVID-19 while Ryan Arcidacono is also following the league’s health and safety protocols. All three are out indefinitely.
Dallas Mavericks
The showdown in Milwaukee offered plenty of drama and excitement as Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis brought a four-game win streak to the court.
But the reigning two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and company spoiled the party winning the match 112-109.
Doncic is on pace to average a triple-double and in this match came up just shy of that benchmark with 28 points, 13 assists, and nine rebounds.
Porzingis followed up his season debut of 16 points and four rebounds with a solid effort producing a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds along with two blocks.
Willie Cauley-Stein joined the unicorn with his own double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds while Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 22.
James Johnson and Trey Burke both scored 13 points in a reserve role.
Like many teams in the Association, the Mavericks are dealing with COVID-19 and have four players out.
Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell have missed two games while Dorian Finney-Smith and Josh Richardson have missed four games with all four listed as questionable for Sunday.
