A few teams will be squarely in the spotlight on Thursday and while the Raptors top that list for who could be moving core assets the team directly behind them could be the Bulls.
Will Artūras Karnišovas decide to change directions and trade one of the Big 3 of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine or Nikola Vucevic — or move more than one of them?
It would verify this group hasn’t lived up to the hopes the franchise had when they made the moves just a few seasons ago, but at this point their record and stats are bearing that out.

Chicago scores 114.3 points per game ranking 17th while they shoot 49.0% from the field and 36.5% from the perimeter ranking fifth and 12th respectively.

Sean Marks has made the two biggest moves entering trade deadline day and boy oh boy did he cause Twitter to BLOW UP early on Thursday with the Kevin Durant trade sending him to Phoenix.

On their way to Brooklyn are two of the Suns’ best youngsters (other than Booker) including DPoY candidate – Mikal Bridges, and a 45.5% perimeter sniper in Cameron Johnson as well as Jae Crowder.
No one is replacing arguably one of the league’s top three stars, but Sean Marks did a solid job getting the two youngsters. Yet, the mic drop moment is the four first-round draft picks that are UNPROTECTED (2023, 2025, 2027, and 2029 as well as a 2028 pick swap).
Sure, those picks could end up falling in the late 20s but consider the fact CP3 will be 38 in May combined with Durant seemingly hit each season by a 20-game absence since the Achilles injury.
Ditto for the 26-year-old Booker who has also been hampered by untimely injuries. Having given up so much of their depth and all those picks if any one or two of the three gets injured – it could result in an eerily similar situation to the 2013 Nets-Celtics situation (in reverse).
And, the comical part of this equation is James Jones ends up stuck with Deandre Ayton — the one young guy he probably wanted to move most.

Brooklyn allows 112.6 points ranking 12th and possesses the fourth-best opponent field goal percentage of 45.6% but ranks 28th on perimeter defense as foes shoot 37.2% from deep.
Brooklyn scores 114.4 points per game ranking 16th. They own the second-best field goal percentage, shooting 50.6%, and rank second on the perimeter shooting 39.2% from deep.

Not to mention, there are SEVEN players on this revamped Nets team who shoot north of 40% from the perimeter!
Plus that big blue elephant in the corner you’re staring at – is the irony of Sean Marks (no relation to Bobby Marks) grabbing those four unprotected first-round picks away from the Suns (umm 2013 anyone?).
One untimely injury to that Suns core could result in Phoenix plummeting in the standings. And all it takes is one – – – umm Jayson Tatum reminder anyone?
As for this game, the Nets probably won’t have Bridges or Johnson available but I’m eager to see what Jacques Vaughan does with this group.
My guess is a very similar play style to what enticed KD and Kyrie to pick them in free agency three years ago but the kicker is this group is much more talented.
Although the Nets are likely to be massively short-handed with new recruits not ready to suit up yet (let alone practice together) something tells me Vaughan will find a way to inspire them and catch the Bulls unsuspecting (especially if DeRozan cant go).
