Thursday, January 19th, finds the Brooklyn Nets playing the Phoenix Suns for the first of two scheduled meetings this season. Brooklyn will host the second meeting on February 7th.
The Nets arrived having last played Tuesday losing 98-106 to the Spurs while the Suns got pummeled 106-136 by the Grizzlies on Monday.

This game marks the second of a five-game road trip for the Nets with stops still to come in Utah (Jazz), San Francisco (Warriors), and Philly (76ers).

They sit 12th in the West and even when their star backcourt returns there is reason to believe this team may not have the depth required to compete with the young rising teams like the Grizzlies and Pelicans or the overall depth of the Denver Nuggets.

Phoenix averages 112.6 points per game dropping to 20th (they ranked top 10 the majority of the season). They are shooting 46.4% from the field and 38.4% from the perimeter ranking 21st and third overall.

Cameron Johnson (knee) is probable, Chris Paul (hip) is questionable while Josh Okogie (fractured nose), Cameron Payne (foot), and Landry Shamet (foot) are out Thursday. Devin Booker (groin) and Jae Crowder (trade request) are out indefinitely.
