Friday, January 6th, the Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans meet for the second and final time this season. New Orleans won the initial meeting 130-108 on October 19th.
Both teams last played Wednesday with the Nets winning streak coming to an end as they lost 112-121 to the Bulls while the Pelicans defeated the Rockets 119-108.
Last season, the teams played twice with Brooklyn winning both contests. The Nets hold the all-time record having bested the Pelicans in 22 of their 43 matches

Brooklyn Nets
The winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Bulls who’ve made a habit of beating good teams. It was an untimely loss for Brooklyn who was poised to pull into a tie for first with the Celtics.
Instead, they remain second — technically in a tie with the Milwaukee Bucks.
To put Brooklyn’s streak into perspective it’s important to note eight wins were against sub .500 teams plus the Warriors without Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, or Klay Thompson in the lineup.
Durant played in all but one game during the streak averaging 28.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.1 steals. His efficiency during the streak aligned with the infamous 50-40-90 benchmark shooting 59.2% from the field, 40.7% from deep, and 96.9% from the stripe.
Brooklyn allows 111.1 points per game ranking seventh and possesses the fourth-best opponent field goal percentage of 45.5%. Their perimeter defense has been troublesome all season with teams shooting 36.5% ranking 25th overall.
Brooklyn scores 115.1 points per game (12th). They own the best percentage from the field shooting 51.4% and rank second from the perimeter shooting (39.1%).
T.J. Warren (rib contusion) is questionable for Friday. David Duke Jr., Kessler Edwards, Day’Ron Sharpe, and Alondes Williams are all on G League assignment.
New Orleans Pelicans
Adrian Wojnarowski said the initial estimate of three weeks for Zion Williamson to be out refers to when he’ll be reassessed meaning he’ll likely miss at least a month.
In that time frame, the Pels play 13 matches. Eight of those are on the road, and eight of the opponents have winning records.
Offensively, the Pelicans rank fourth for scoring averaging 117.5 points per game while shooting 48.0% from the field and 36.8% from the perimeter ranking eighth and 11th respectively.
Defensively, the Pelicans allow opponents to score 112.8 points per game, ranking 14th. New Orleans holds their opponents to 46.8% from the field ranking 11th and boasts the second-best perimeter ranking of 33.6%.
Larry Nance (shoulder) and Willy Hernangomez (ankle) are questionable, Friday. Zion Williamson (hamstring), Brandon Ingram (toe) and E.J. Liddell (knee) are out.

Free Brooklyn Nets vs. New Orleans Pelicans NBA Prediction:
Willie Green has gotten the best out of his bench with members accepting their roles while also delivering more when they’re required to infill due to injuries.
That scenario gets tougher with arguably the two best players out for the foreseeable future. Combine that with the prospect of facing an elite Nets club and it’ll be tough to pull this one out.
Still, you know how I love taking the points if two teams are close in proximity in terms of ability so take the Pels and the points.
