This is the final game of the first series of the season. The Jays have looked pretty sharp over the first couple of contests and will look to close things out with a win before heading home for their home opener against Boston.

This will be a battle of lefty starters and pretty much anytime that happens it will be to the advantage of the Jays powerful, righthanded dominated lineup.

Toronto Blue Jays

Through the first couple of games the Jays have little to complain about. The won them both by identical 5-3 scores and certainly could have put up more runs than that.

Whenever this team scores 5 runs they are going to be very tough to beat and they are flashing some leather too. Did you see that catch that Kevin Pillar made the other day.

With a lefty on the hill again this lineup could warmup even more before heading home.

This start will be the first in J.A. Happ’s second tour with Toronto. Down the stretch in the National League he was fantastic for the Pirates and the Jays are hoping for more of the same.

His first go around with the jays was nothing special but that team was not nearly as good in the field or at the plate as this one is. If he keeps the team in the game he should eclipse the 12 wins he had in his first full season with Philly.

Tampa Bay Rays

As this is being written on Tuesday the Rays have yet to grab a victory in their opening season against Toronto.

Seeing Chris Dickerson go yard and Kevir Keirmaier look sharp you can see how the Rays offense could be better than in year’s past but they are still going to struggle if they keep allowing opponents to score 5 runs.

Tampa’s margin is going to be pretty thin this season especially when they play the top clubs in the league.

The Rays will be countering the Jays lefty with one of their own, which is not the smartest of strategies. Matt Moore is still trying to get back to where he was before an injury took him down for a season.

Three years ago he won 17 games but the Rays might call it a win if he is healthy enough to make 17 starts this season.

They are counting on him but as the fourth starter he does not have to do much more than take his regular turn. He should be better than he was a year ago.
