Blue Jays
The Jays are in a position to sweep the Yankees in this 4-game series and it certainly looks like it has a great chance to happen. Amazingly, the Jays find themselves as underdogs for the 4th straight day despite tearing up Yankee pitching the last 3 days.
Vladi is on fire and the top 4 of the Jays lineup all are seemingly seeing beach balls right now at the plate. The Jays brought themselves closer to the wildcard spot which is a wild race in the American League. These last 3 weeks of the season will be quite interesting and the Jays are bashing the ball all over the field.
The Jays acquired Jose Berrios from the Twins before the end of the trade deadline and he has been stellar in his last 2 outings. Berrios went 7 strong against the Tigers giving up nothing and he followed that up with 6 and 2/3 against Oakland his last time out. He’s struck out 18 men over those two starts and is happy to be out of Minnesota in a playoff chase.
Berrios hasn’t pitched an inning against the Yankees this season nor did he make a start in 2020 against them either. His last start against the Yanks came in 2019 in a playoff game that he lost 10 – 4. This is such a different situation and the pressure is much less today. He should, and will likely, be just fine tonight in the Bronx.
NY Yankees
Brett Gardner homered last night for the Yanks, so why does it matter? He has the only extra-base hit for the Yanks over the last 3 games against the Jays and they are 0 – 3 in the 4-game set thus far. Trying to avoid the sweep the Yanks send Nestor Cortez Jr. to the bump hoping he can help salvage a game in the series.
The Yankees look so confused at the plate and it is not just one or two guys either. With the Red Sox and Seattle both winning last night and the Jays beating the Yanks to boot? The Yanks are slowly playing themselves out of the playoff chase and Aaron Boone’s job becomes in jeopardy with every loss.
Yeah, we know Steinbrenner has said that Boone will be here all season, but beyond that, it is extremely worth discussing. Boone is terrible, and straight-up has no idea how to manage a taco stand much less a baseball team. His father had the managerial skills and NONE of that has translated to him. I am not just another disgruntled Yankees fan because I love making money fading their ass right now. You are 2 – 0 the last two nights taking my Jays’ suggested bets, at least I hope you are!
Oh, and yes, we are fading the hell out of this horrible team again on Thursday with the Yankees favored again <<< hysterical! Either the line setters are getting entirely too drunk setting lines or Vegas just likes giving away money and that is rare.
Vladi Guerrero blasted HR #41 on Wednesday night and boy, did he do it emphatically. The Yanks brought on Chapman in the 9th inning down 2 runs in a 5 – 3 game and Vladi thanked Aaron Boone by blasting a ball into the left-field seats to make it 6 – 3. Drive home safely!
Chapman is completely lost and the Yankees post-game discussion was all about the looks on the Yankees’ faces after the game. STUNNED, OVERWHELMED, OUT OF SORTS were the words being thrown around and there is nothing more true! There are no answers and there is no offense to speak of at all.
Gallo? Lost, no clue!
LeMahieu? A double play waiting to happen and that re-signing of his contract was a terrible decision.
Luke Voit? Gio Urshela? Gleyber Torres? All 3 of them have no clue how to hit a baseball at the moment and it is amazing how all of them went to sh!t at the same time. Even the Judge has lost his stroke and we don’t even want to start talking about Higashioka trying to hit a baseball.
That about covers it! FAVORITES? Yeah, give me a break!
Oh, and congrats to Derek Jeter for finally getting the Plaque he so deserves and entering the Hall of Fame today! My man… #2! Great speech, great career, and as Yankees fan I say thanks, dude! You the man!
