The Yankees bullpen had a dominant outing, pitching 5.2 innings and shutout the Blue Jays for a 4-0 victory.
Guerrero shook off a bloody gash on his right ring finger and hit three home runs against the rival Yankees, including two off ace Gerrit Cole, as Toronto beat New York 6-4.
Toronto Blue Jays
In 2021, the Blue Jays were a fun, energetic team that had youngsters all over the lineup that was brash and powerful. In 2022, the Jays’ are a frequent pick to win the AL East after adding Matt Chapman at 3B and replacing Cy Young winner Robbie Ray with former Giants ace Kevin Gausman.
They also will play all of their home games in Toronto this season after a year of upheaval last season playing in Florida, Buffalo and then finally Toronto.
Toronto came into this season with arguably the best lineup in the American League. Marcus Semien and his 45 home runs are gone but Chapman is a huge upgrade at 3B and the Blue Jays are confident that the combination of Cavan Biggio and Santiago Espinal can provide solid defense and timely hitting in a platoon role at 2B.
The Blue Jays also have one of the strongest rotations in the league this year. Manoah looks ready to take the next step and Gausman was a top of the rotation starter for the Giants last year. José Berríos has the chance to be a Cy Young winner if he stays healthy.
New York Yankees
After two quick wins to start the season and a show of power, the Yankees bats have gone rather quiet over the past two games, eerily reminiscent of the team’s issues last season.
The Yankees lineup has pop with boppers like Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Joey Gallo, Anthony Rizzo and Josh Donaldson. They are hopeful for a healthy season from Aaron Hicks and have a top-flight table-setter in DJ LeMahieu. They have the ability to score runs in bunches.
With a questionable rotation, the Yankees’ stellar bullpen will be put to the test this season. A great example is the second game of the Boston series. Servino only pitched three innings, allowing two runs. The Yankees used six relievers to pitch six hitless, shutout innings.

I expect this to be another close game but ultimately see Chapman coming in and closing the door on the Blue Jays to split this series at home.
