Here is my Rangers Diamondbacks free pick: I’m taking the Diamondbacks ML -132. Saturday’s 6-2 loss ended Arizona’s three-game winning streak, but I’m willing to come right back with the home side in the rubber match.
The biggest separation for me is what Arizona has done in this spot all season. The Diamondbacks are 42-32 at Chase Field, while Texas has gone only 33-44 on the road. That matters with both clubs fighting for postseason position.
Arizona has also won six of its last 10 despite Saturday’s setback. Texas finally broke through with one six-run inning yesterday, but the Rangers had scored three runs or fewer in four of their previous five games.
I’m backing Arizona to answer after letting Saturday’s game get away in one inning.
Texas does get Josh Jung back in the lineup, and that makes the Rangers more dangerous. Still, Arizona has been the steadier club recently and has much more consistently turned its home field into wins.
This is also a price I can live with. I don’t need to lay a run and a half in a series where three of the first four season meetings were decided by three runs or fewer.
