The Rays picked up win #100 for the season on Saturday after smashing the Yankees to pieces for the second consecutive game. It is the first time in franchise history that they have hit triple-digits in wins.
Now, the Rays have a chance to make the Yankees look really bad in front of their own fans… Again! The Yankees made the 4 – 3 Friday night affair look closer than it was, but the Rays left no room for any type of home crowd support jumping out to an early lead on Saturday afternoon and never looked back taking a 12 – 2 win.
While the Rays await their playoff run, the Yankees have no idea if they will even be in the post-season now after back-to-back losses to the Rays. Even if Cole does get the nod for Sunday, who the hell is going to hit the ball for New York? The bottom half of the order is a joke at this point and there is not a lick of confidence throughout the lineup.
The tie-breaking scenarios could have me posting a 2,000-word article here because there is so much happening on this final day of the regular season. The Yankees will likely be heading to Fenway Park to face Boston but Toronto and Seattle are still in the mix. IF they all end up tied it will be quite a wild Monday before Wild Card Tuesday and then it will just get more insane from there!
Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays have the AL East title wrapped up and you would think they would take this last weekend lightly. Not so much, as this weekend series in New York sees the Rays going for the 3-game sweep of the Yanks on Sunday.
What a day it was for Mr. Lowe on Saturday. He came up with 2-men on base in the 1st inning and went BOOM! He came up in the 3rd inning again with 2-men on and went… BOOM! Then, why not add a third dinger for the second basemen who is up to 39 bombs for the year who drove in 7 runs on Sunday! The only starter without a hit in the game was Y. Diaz as everyone else lit up Montgomery and the rest of the Yankee pitching staff.
The Rays know they will have a few days to rest after the regular season games come to an end. We all know that how you are playing going into the post-season can usually have an effect on your playoff run. The Rays do not lack confidence and they would love to be partly responsible for keeping the Yankees out of the post-season with a win on Sunday.
The Rays had 6 different players with multiple hits on Saturday and they had to enjoy all the boo-birds in the Bronx giving it to the Yanks.
NY Yankees
Terrible! The Yankees are absolutely horrible and there is still a chance the post-season will be without them.
Gio Urshela has NO IDEA how to hit a baseball. Rougned Odor reflects his name because the dude STINKS! Gleyber Torres needs to go into the off-season to also learn how to hit a baseball. Need more? How about the JOG to first base on a pay that Torres would have reached first had he actually ran!?! We saw Judge and Gardner giving him the riot act in the dugout but that is not THEIR JOB! Aaron Boone is THE ONLY person who has to say anything and he just sat at the entrance of the dugout and did nothing about it!!! NOTHING! Unacceptable, period, end of a story that he should have been benched and sent home for the weekend! Torres batting leadoff might be the most hysterical thing I have seen in my 52 years on this planet.
Joey Gallo is a strikeout waiting to happen and all I can say about him is… DAVE KINGMAN! You get a Homer or he sits down with another K so he better not be returning to the team next season.
Brett Gardner has got to finally retire and then we can talk about the mess that is Giancarlo Stanton! Holy sh!t! Overpaid and underachieving and no one wants to see that salary where it is because the Yankees need A TON OF HELP next season.
Aaron Boone certainly needs to be dismissed as soon as the season ends and the entire coaching staff needs to go with him!
The Yankees gave up more hits on Saturday than they have all season (19), just in time to lose the big games that matter the most! This weekend only needed to produce ONE WIN for the Yanks to get into the wildcard spot and now that is totally up in the air.
The Yankees have been favored in both of these losses to the Rays and now the guess of who is pitching on Sunday comes next. Do the Yanks put Cole on the mound on short rest with the season on the line? Do they save him in case they do find a way into the playoffs?
The Rays put up the most hits against the Yankees that they have given up all season long, and again, take about the worst time to do it? This would be it and there is zero confidence in the dugout at all. I find it hysterical when the Yankee announcers talk up Jordan Montgomery… and his massive 6 wins he provided for the team? WTF? Blow sunshine up someone else’s ass because he is so predictable it is stupid. 91 MPH fastball, 83 MPH change-up, rinse, wash, and repeat! So easy to wait on his garbage because his garbage will come at least 3 times per AB!
How about the post-game press conference with Aaron Boone on Saturday? Meredith asked him if he was concerned about Sunday and he responded with the fact that he is always concerned with the state of the team. No dude, you are too fucking stupid to be concerned with anything but yourself and HE NEEDS TO GO!!!
Luckily for me, I like to do pre-season prop bets. I grabbed the Yankees Team Total Under 95.5 wins and it was never even a contest! Even with some of the hot streaks the team went on it never seemed as if this team had the goods.
In addition, I want to say thank you to Kenny Singleton for the years in the booth calling the games. Today will be his last game with Michael Kay and he will be missed #Lookout!

Free Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees MLB Prediction:
I like the Rays to bust out the broom and finish off the Yankees with the sweep!
The Yankees being favored is absolutely f**king hysterical with no one hitting the ball worth a damn and Taillon way out of form. The dude hasn’t pitched in weeks and his control will be an issue!
