The Tampa Bay Rays got a very ”on brand” victory in their season opener beating this Miami Marlins team by a score of 1-0 off the back of an outstanding performance by Tyler Glasnow. They now will look for a repeat of that performance here on Friday during game 2 of this 3 game series with the Marlins.

One 419 foot bomb is all it took off of the bat of Austin Meadows for this Tampa Bay Rays team to get themselves into the winners column and although they can’t expect shutouts from their pitchers consistently, this is the type of baseball this team plays in order to be successful.
The Rays batters also did not have an easy time out their against Sandy Alcantara who was every bit as good as Glasnow outside of one mistake to Meadows which was cashed in on.
Ryan Yarbrough looks to be getting the starting pitcher’s role in this game and it will be interesting to see how he performs here, as he is coming off a season with a 3.56 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP over a large enough sample size in last year’s season.
Miami Marlins
The Marlins certainly will feel a bit hard done by after that first game, but they must have loved what they saw out of Sandy Alcantara, as this team might finally have a legitimate ace if he keeps moving in the right direction.
That kind of performance from the pitching staff will need to become a regular occurrence, as the Miami Marlins will not be getting it done with this batting lineup alone, as there just is not enough talent as things stand right now.
Pablo Lopez will get the ball to start this contest and like Alcantara, he is another one of these young and exciting starters for the Marlins who are sure to put up outstanding numbers here in 2021.

Also, Yarbrough is not bad by any stretch, but he is also not a bonafide ace who is going to shutdown this Miami team the way Glasnow did last time, so I do expect the Marlins bats to come alive here to put up a respectable and competitive amount of runs here.
