Nick Martinez gives Tampa Bay a strong option as it looks to complete the sweep. The right-hander enters at 14-4 with a 3.04 ERA across 160 innings, giving the Rays both effectiveness and workload from their Thursday starter.

Here is my Rays Braves free pick: I’m playing Over 8.5 in the series finale. Nick Martinez has been excellent for Tampa Bay, but the Rays’ lineup is hot enough that I’m willing to attack this number despite the stronger starting matchup.
Tampa Bay has scored at least six runs in five straight games, including seven in each of the first two games at Truist Park. The Rays have already produced 17 hits and six extra-base hits in this series.
Martín Pérez gives me another reason to lean toward the bats.
The current Rays roster has hit Pérez well enough to make this total vulnerable.
Pérez enters with a 3.25 ERA, but his most recent start was rough. Philadelphia tagged him for four runs on seven hits and four walks in only 3 2/3 innings.
Atlanta hasn’t helped the Over much this series, scoring only three runs. Still, the Braves have enough power to contribute against Martinez, especially if they can finally cash in some of the traffic they’ve generated.
The Rays don’t need Atlanta to explode. Another five or six runs from Tampa Bay puts this total within striking distance before the bullpens finish the afternoon.
I’ll ride the hottest offense in the matchup and look for Atlanta to finally contribute. Give me Over 8.5.
