Seattle has done some great work lately. They have leapfrogged Houston in the AL West and are just a game and a half out of that second Wild Card spot.

They could be dangerous too.

It wouldn’t be too bad to have the King on the mound in a winner take all game. They have to keep making up ground this week at lower third Oakland.

Seattle Mariners

The M’s have won six in a row and 8 of 9 to gain their spot on the edge of the playoffs.

They are in the Top 10 in scoring and ERA so there is nothing fluky to this group. I have probably written this before but they have some thunder in their lineup now.

They are third in the homers thanks to Nelson Cruz, Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager. Those three are their top average hitters too, batting .285 or better.

That is rare.

This will be Ariel Miranda’s second start in the big league and obviously the stakes are high.

His lone start was against Boston and he did a good job limiting that lineup. Oakland is pretty lean right now so even though the track record is short I am optimistic.

In the bullpen Edwin Diaz continues to dominate. He is probably going to be rookie of the year.

Oakland A’s

The A’s should be feeling pretty good about themselves for how they are handling Baltimore, 3-0 to start the week.

It has been all about the pitching though, they have saved a lineup that lacked punch all season and losing Josh Reddick hasn’t helped.

Don’t hold it against yourself if you watch this one and don’t recognize a lot of the faces.

Sean Manaea is one of several Oakland rookie pitchers the brass hopes has a big future.

At his best he shutout Tampa over eight and and at his worst he gave up 8ER to Boston.

The other 15 starts have been a smattering of good, bad and decent. Maybe with the rotation on a roll he can gain some momentum.

The deeper he can go the better because the bullpen is not the most reliable in the league.

If they sweep can the good times keep coming or are they due to regress to the mean.
