Starting pitcher Logan Webb is young and has some potential.
After becoming a regular starter in 2019, Webb is looking for any kind of regression after posting two straight seasons of a .340 BABIP and a much higher FIP than ERA.
Either way, Webb is reliable. He made 11 starts in 2020 and pitched 54.1 innings.
But, the Giants were a defensive-minded team last season. San Fransisco is live offensively.
The Giants finished top-10 in both OPS and wRC+ in 2020, and young outfielder Mike Yastrzemski is a total stud.
Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have unearthed former Mets prospect Chris Flexen. And, Seattle is trying to turn him into a big league starter.
Flexen is 26 and spent the past few years in-and-out of the Mets farm system. In 2020, he pitched in the Korean Baseball league, and actually posted a 2.74 FIP there.
However, as a big league pitcher with the Mets in 2019, Flexen was not very good. He played in nine games, had no starts and posted a xFIP of 7.81.
The Mariners were one of the worst offenses in the league last season, and actually were the worst home offense in the league last season. They posted the worst OPS at home of any team in baseball.

Seattle is literally throwing out a completely new pitcher.
Meanwhile, San Francisco’s Webb has performed decently against this Mariners team in the past. In a small sample size vs. Seattle’s lineup, Webb has a sub-4.0 FIP.
I think the Giants offense overpowers Flexen and the relatively weak Seattle offense. San Fransisco’s opening day start was a fluke, and the Giants should steal this road win on the way to a promising season.
