Here is my Padres Giants free pick: I’m taking the Over 7.5. San Diego has scored seven runs in each of the first two games of this series, and I’m not interested in stepping in front of an offense playing with this much confidence.
The Giants are doing their part, too. They scored five Friday and six Saturday, with four home runs in yesterday’s loss. Rafael Devers has homered in both games of this series, giving San Francisco a dangerous middle-of-the-order threat.
More importantly, these clubs haven’t needed cheap late scoring to get there. Saturday reached 10 runs by the eighth inning, while Friday had already produced 12 before the ninth.
This series has produced scoring pressure from both lineups, not one-sided blowouts.
Oracle Park can scare bettors away from an Over, but 7.5 is a manageable number considering how these offenses are swinging it. San Diego has scored at least six runs in five straight games during this winning streak.
I also like that San Francisco keeps answering when the Padres create separation. The Giants have scored 11 runs in this series despite losing both games, which gives us two legitimate paths toward eight runs.
