The Padres and Angels hook up for inter-league action this Thursday at Angel Stadium as the Padres look to continue their excellent season, and the Angels look to salvage a bit of pride.
San Diego Padres
The Padres have managed to put together a pretty good season as they currently sit at 22-15 and lay 5 games back of the red-hot Dodgers in the NL West. It does not seems possible, given the Dodgers strength, that they will be able to catch them, but a Wild Card spot could be on the cards if they continue their strong play.
A lot of this season’s success can come down to the play of Fernando Tatis Jr who is having and incredible season and is cementing himself as the most exciting young player in baseball. The Padres don’t have a listed pitcher here, but whoever they send should be in a decent position against the slumping Angels.
Los Angeles Angels
This Angels team had a ton of hope coming into this shortened season that they could finally make a run at the playoffs and not only have they not put any kind of run together, they have been one of the worst teams in baseball up to this point. Trout has been doing his job, and Rendon has been decent since coming to the Angels, but this team struggles otherwise and their pitching has taken a hit from last year with Ohtani’s poor start.
Andrew Heaney gets the call here and he has been okay with an ERA of 4.62 and a 2-2 record, and he is coming off his best start of the season last time out, but it did come against the Mariners who were only able to score 1 run in over 7 innings pitched by Heaney.

You should get a decent enough price on the Padres here and I do not see the Angels really putting it all together and I do not believe in Heaney long term, so I am rolling with the Padres on the moneyline in this spot.
