Phillies vs. Mariners Pitching Matchup
Aaron Nola takes the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies with a 5-9 record this season.
His ERA stands at 5.12, showing the challenges he has faced in keeping runs off the board. However, his 146 strikeouts show Nola can still generate plenty of swings and misses.
Nola has struggled to find consistency throughout the season. Despite his high strikeout numbers, his 1.42 WHIP suggests he allows too many baserunners. As the season progresses, finding a steady rhythm will be key for him.
George Kirby takes the mound for the Seattle Mariners with an 8-10 record.
His 4.18 ERA shows slightly better control than Nola, while his 117 strikeouts demonstrate his effectiveness in certain situations. Kirby’s 1.36 WHIP points toward some control issues, but he has managed to navigate through games more effectively than Nola.
As the season unfolds, maintaining his current form will remain important for Seattle’s success.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Seattle Mariners bottom line: Nola brings a 5.12 ERA and 1.42 WHIP into a pitching matchup against Kirby’s 4.18 ERA and 1.36 WHIP.

Phillies Mariners Free Pick: Phillies ML +101
Here is my Phillies Mariners free pick: Seattle deserves some credit after blasting 5 home runs last night, but I’m not letting one big performance erase what Philadelphia has done lately.
I’m looking for the Phillies to answer.
Philadelphia has won 9 of its last 10 games despite dropping the latest meeting, and that larger sample carries more weight for me. The Phillies are also 35-29 on the road, so playing in Seattle isn’t enough to scare me away.
The Mariners have been respectable at 6-4 across their last 10, but their 63-69 overall record tells a different story. Five homers last night? That’s tough to repeat.
Getting plus money with a team that’s won 9 of 10 is enough to make Philadelphia worth another look immediately.
However, Seattle’s power display certainly creates some concern if Philadelphia’s pitching makes similar mistakes again. The Phillies rank 14th in ERA and need a cleaner performance this time around.
Does one huge Seattle night suddenly erase Philadelphia’s entire hot streak?
Not for me. Instead, I’m backing the better recent body of work and expecting the Phillies to respond after having their momentum interrupted.
The Phillies ML offers value, and I’ll take Philadelphia to bounce back in Seattle.
