Phillies vs. Braves Gameday
The Philadelphia Phillies enter Sunday’s series finale trying to stop a four-game losing streak at Truist Park. Philadelphia fell to 82-67 after Saturday’s 12-2 loss, while Atlanta improved to 88-61 and has now won four straight games.
The Braves have taken the first two games of this series and pushed their NL East lead to six games. Saturday was never particularly close after Atlanta erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning, turning a 1-1 game into a rout.
Atlanta enters Sunday with a six-game NL East lead and a chance to complete the sweep.
Ronald Acuña Jr. went 3-for-3 with a home run, while Michael Harris II finished 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs. Philadelphia received solo home runs from Bryce Harper and Justin Crawford but generated little else offensively.
Atlanta is now 52-26 at Truist Park, while Philadelphia sits at 41-34 on the road.
The Braves have also won four of the last five meetings between these teams after Philadelphia took two of three earlier this month. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 PM ET, with NBC Sports Philadelphia and BravesVision carrying the game.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves Odds & Last 5
Atlanta remains favored in Sunday’s series finale, with the Braves sitting around -125 on the moneyline and Philadelphia around +105. The Phillies are getting +1.5 runs at approximately -190, while Atlanta is laying 1.5 at plus money.
The total has moved to 9 runs after the first two games produced plenty of offense.
Atlanta won Friday’s opener 6-5 in 11 innings before crushing Philadelphia 12-2 Saturday. The Braves have now scored 18 runs in the series and have won four consecutive games overall.
Philadelphia has dropped four straight and is 3-7 over its last 10 games. The Phillies have scored only nine runs during the losing streak, putting additional pressure on them to avoid a sweep before leaving Atlanta.
Braves Stats
Atlanta enters Sunday batting around .247 with a slugging percentage near .410. The Braves have hit 189 home runs after adding two more Saturday, giving a deep lineup plenty of ways to create damage.
Matt Olson remains the club’s leading home-run hitter with 38.
Ronald Acuña Jr. has provided another major threat at the top of the order, while Michael Harris II reached 25 home runs with Saturday’s blast. Drake Baldwin has also supplied consistent production during an impressive season in the middle of Atlanta’s lineup.
The Braves’ pitching has been just as important. Atlanta carries a team ERA around 3.55 and has consistently limited opposing offenses, helping create the separation that now has the club firmly in control of the NL East.
Phillies Stats
Philadelphia is batting around .241 with a slugging percentage near .400 and has hit 177 home runs. The Phillies still possess considerable power even though the offense has struggled to generate sustained rallies during the current four-game slide.
Kyle Schwarber leads the club with 44 home runs, while Bryce Harper hit his 29th Saturday. Trea Turner continues to provide production near the top of the lineup and remains one of Philadelphia’s primary run creators.
The Phillies have scored only nine runs during their four consecutive losses.
Pitching has generally kept Philadelphia competitive this season, but Saturday’s bullpen game unraveled badly after three scoreless innings from Tim Mayza. Five relievers followed and Atlanta eventually finished with 12 runs and 16 hits.

Phillies vs. Braves Pitching Matchup
Andrew Painter gets the start for Philadelphia at 3-9 with a 5.71 ERA and 97 strikeouts. The right-hander carries a 1.41 WHIP and faces a difficult assignment against an Atlanta lineup that has scored 18 runs through the first two games of this series.
Painter has endured an uneven season while continuing his development at the major-league level.
Atlanta counters with Grant Holmes, who enters at 9-5 with a 3.46 ERA and 110 strikeouts. Holmes owns a 1.29 WHIP and has been particularly effective during the second half of the season.
Holmes has posted a 2.83 ERA over his last 12 starts dating back to July and has been even tougher against Philadelphia. In three starts against the Phillies this season, he owns a 2.70 ERA.
The starting matchup favors Atlanta on recent performance, but Philadelphia’s urgency should be high with a sweep and further division separation on the line. Painter needs to contain a Braves offense that has generated both power and sustained rallies throughout the weekend.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves bottom line: Atlanta enters with the stronger recent form, starting-pitching profile and home record, while Philadelphia is trying to stop a four-game slide and avoid the sweep.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves Baseball Betting Trends
- The Braves are 3-2 straight-up in their last 5 games.
- The Braves have covered the run line in 2 of their last 3 wins.
- Also, the total has gone over in 3 of the Braves’ last 5 games.
- The Phillies are 1-4 straight-up in their last 5 games.
- The Phillies have failed to cover the run line in their last 3 losses.
- Additionally, the total has gone under in 3 of the Phillies’ last 5 games.
Phillies Braves Free Pick: Over 9
Here is my Phillies Braves free pick: I’m taking the Over 9. Atlanta has already scored 18 runs in the first two games of this series, and Saturday’s 12-2 blowout gave us another look at how quickly this lineup can pile up runs.
The Phillies have been quiet lately, but I’m not expecting Atlanta to do all the work. Philadelphia still has Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper and enough power throughout the order to contribute against a Braves team it knows extremely well.
Atlanta is the side I expect to drive this total. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Michael Harris II both went deep Saturday, and the Braves have scored at least six runs in three straight games.
Atlanta’s current offensive form gives this Over room even if Philadelphia starts slowly.
The other angle is Philadelphia’s bullpen. Saturday turned ugly once the relievers took over, and the Braves kept adding pressure until an eight-run fourth inning had completely broken the game open.
Nine is a bigger number, but we get a push at exactly nine. After 11 and 14 combined runs in the first two games, I’m comfortable riding the offensive direction instead of expecting an abrupt reversal.
My MLB handicapping approach stays with the bats. I’ll take the Over 9.
