Seattle Mariners
What started out as a decent trip for the Mariners turned ugly in Boston. A respectable 3-3 on the trip heading to face the Red Sox, the Mariners were swept away in 4 straight games by the resurgent Sox.
On Sunday, the Mariners seemed poised to end the trip on a high note after coming back from deficits of 2-0 and then 3-2 to take a one-run lead heading into the bottom of the 10th inning. A BoSox grand slam made a loser out of hard-throwing reliever Anthony Munoz and forced the Mariners to limp home with a 17-26 record on the season.
If the Mariners could take some of their home cooking on the road with them, they might be amongst the top teams in the American League. With yesterday’s loss, the Mariners are now just 8-18 away from home this season. At home, however, they are a different team at 9-7 thus far.
