Obviously we get a treat in this game with Ohtani pitching and hitting. In July, Ohtani was 2-2 with a 3.20 ERA in 4 starts. He picked up the loss in his last time out even though he had a pretty strong outing. He went 6 innings only giving up 2 earned runs with 11 strikeouts.
On the season, Ohtani is 9-6 with a 2.81 ERA in 17 starts. Ohtani has an xERA of 2.49 which ranks him in the top 5% in the league. He is in the 98th percentile in strikeout percent and that makes sense since he has 145 strikeouts in 99.1 innings.
The Angels have been pretty poor at the plate even with having some of the great hitters they have. As a team they rank 26th in batting average. They do lead the league in one category, which is strikeouts with 985… Not the category you really want to be leading in. If you want to look at any player props, I’d strictly look at total bases with Ohtani. He seems to hit even better when he also takes the mound.
