The Oakland Athletics look to extend their lead atop the AL West against a mightily disappointing LA Angels club when the two meet up at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
Oakland Athletics
The Athletics were absolutely rolling with 9 straight wins before the Angels were able to pick up a 10-9 win at the start of this series to snap that streak.
They now hold a 4.5 game lead over the Astros and if they can keep picking up W’s they are going to find themselves in the postseason really quickly given the shortened season.
The Athletics have a strong pitching staff and they will once again have an advantage on the mound with Chris Bassitt heading to the hill for this one.
He pitched 7 innings of one run ball last outing and holds a 1.08 ERA on the season, so he will be a tough challenge for the Angels batting lineup.
Los Angeles Angels
The Angels should be a force to be reckoned with on paper, but they have not gotten things going this year and this will be an important inter-division series for them to win.
The bats have been decent this year, although they have not hit their full potential, but once again the pitching has been the problem.
Nowhere was this more evident then in their series against the Mariners earlier this year where they gave up 20 runs in that three game series.
The Angels will send Griffen Canning to the mound for this one who has been solid for most of this season, but is coming off a rough start and will be looking for a bounceback start.
