The Oakland Athletics will look to secure their spot in the wild card race this Tuesday, as they take on a slumping Detroit Tigers team at Comerica Park.

The Oakland A’s are just 4-10 in their last 14 games, so they are hitting a poor run of form at the wrong time of the year and they will find themselves missing out on the playoffs if they are not able to turn it around in a hurry.
They do have all the talent to do just that, though, as they have a great mix of batting talent and a great pitching staff, so they will be in a good spot against an ice-cold Detroit team here on Tuesday.
Look out for first basemen Matt Olsen in this one, as he gets a solid individual matchup with Tarik Skubal and he has been hammering most of the pitchers he has seen this year with a .273 average and 32 home runs to go along with a team leading 83 RBI.
Cole Irvin is the projected starter for this one and although he has had a decent enough season he has struggled mightily recently, so this is also the perfect time for him to go up against this Tigers batting lineup in order to build some momentum.
Detroit Tigers
This Detroit batting lineup which was so solid for such a long stretch has suddenly gone cold scoring just 9 runs in their last 5 games putting that .500 mark out of reach this year unless they can pull off some magic in September.
The pitching staff has remained solid, as a lot of these recent games have been very competitive despite them not being able to hit the ball and they will once again send one of their best starters to the mound with Tarik Skubal getting the start here.
Skubal has been mighty impressive this year coming in here with an 8-11 record and a 4.01 ERA and that ERA has been on the way down recently, as he has only given up 4 runs in his last 3 outings, so he very well could have another good start here against the A’s.
