New York comes into this one as the slight favorites, with the total opening at 7.5. Mariners manager Scott Servais will give Luis Castillo his first home start, while Yankees coach Aaron Boone will send ace Gerrit Cole to the mound.

Gerrit Cole has jumped out to another impressive start here in 2022. Luis Castillo will make his second start as a Mariner,, and he impressive in his debut at Yankee Stadium. Castillo made the Yankees pay for not acquiring him by dishing out another strong performance in the Bronx, going 6 and 2/3 with eight strikeouts, mirroring his eight-K outing against New York before the All-Star break.
Castillo feels like the piece to put Seattle into the playoff contention and potentially over the top, giving the Mariners three big-game pitchers. Castillo posted a 4-4 record with a 2.86 ERA and 90 strikeouts with the Reds prior to coming to the Northwest at the trade deadline.
Seattle’s bullpen ranks in the top ten of majors in ERA (3.49), and with Gilbert going no more than six in each of his past twelve starts, they will surely have an effect on this late-night contest.
Seattle has been decent at the plate this season, ranking 13th in on base percentage (.315) and 12th in home runs (121). They get a lot of production from the top of their lineup, which features Ty France and former Reds Jesse Winker & Eugenio Suarez. France is carrying an eight-game hit streak into this contest.
