Everything that could have gone wrong on Thursday night, did for both the Mets and Yankees. The Mets lost to Miami again while the Braves found a win, and the Yanks got swept in a 4-game series against the Jays at home.
The playoffs?… Playoffs? Wait, what? You’re talking about playoffs? Yeah, sorry, I had a Jim Mora moment there LoL
With each passing loss for both of the Gotham City teams, the chances of a post-season berth get farther and farther away. The Mets are 1.5 games behind the Phils and are now 5 back of the Braves in the NL East Division race. The wildcard isn’t even a remote possibility anymore at 70 – 71 as so many clubs are basically uncatchable now.
The Yanks are in a dog fight with the Jays and Chi-Sox and the Mariners, Red Sox, and A’s are all in this post-season conversation now. Things just suddenly all got tightened up in the American League, and it will only get wilder until the calendar turns to October.
NY Yankees
Did you enjoy the last few days pounding the Jays ML with +money on the board every damn day? I know, right, that sh!t was fun and I am one of the oldest Yankee fans in this room. Hey, you either know what you are looking at without bias or you get stuck being a fan. I know how to separate the two and the Yanks? Well, we/they stinky poo poo!
Maybe it was fun watching the Yanks make it closer in the 9th with the back-to-back bombs from Sanchez and Voit, but was it really? Did that do it for ya as the BROOM GOT BUSTED OUT against the Empire!
The Jays banged out 12 HR in the 4-game series and were tied or had the lead through all 36 innings they played. That is a record team-high for a 4-game set at the Big House from the Jays and now Toronto and New York sit with 62 losses apiece.
Zach Britton news… no bueno! Done for the year and who knows how long into next year after UCL surgery yesterday. Loiziga is already down and Chapman has the confidence of a deer in the headlights right now.
That means Home Run Heaney gets to the move to the Yankee bullpen and holy sh!t that is scary as hell! Yeah, I said Home Run Heaney and if you listen to my Youtube show you know all bout the dude. HE was up to his old tricks again last night and Vladi’s 42nd HR is still going into Staten Island as we speak.
Jordan Montgomery and his 83 MPH slider will be thrown 54 times on Friday and you know, I know, and your momma knows that you cannot be consistently throwing one pitch against the Jays. Just watch the game tonight and wait for it… 83 MPH slider… 84 MPH change-up… 83 MPH Slider again, oh look, another 84 MPH ball down in the zone, no way?!?!
How the Mets deal with him is another story because that team has some junk in that lineup too. This should be a fun weekend here in NY, so let’s move on to the Mets side of the ledger.
NY Mets
Javier Baez… all right, well, that will wrap it up and we will see you next time here at Cappers Picks! Right? So bad, I mean he was the only guy who even knew what a baseball looked like last night in the 3 – 2 loss to the Marlins. Losing 2 of 3 to the Fish in a playoff battle is um, well, again I will say no bueno!
Stroman did all he could to keep the Mets in the game but no Mets bats did a damn thing to support him. Going into the 7th Baez had the only 2 Mets hits in the game until the Polar Bear singled in the 7th. Just fugly stuff and now they have to hop on a plane back to New York after just the 3 games in Florida. That’s an odd schedule there to leave NY for 3 and come back home to face the Yanks at home the next series.
Tylor Megill gets the nod for the Mets to start the series and he has been stellar since arriving on the scene. Megill got his first start on June 23 against the Braves and he has certainly earned his starter’s role for Rojas.
Megill has an ERA of 4.20 through 72 & 1/3 IP and he has only walked 19 batters while knocking down 78 of them. His size at 6-7 makes him look intimidating and he uses that to his advantage as best he can.

Free New York Yankees vs New York Mets MLB Prediction:
I like this under but I like the RHE Under prop a little more. Unless we see too many errors that Under 26 looks like the best play to make for this game.
4* Free MLB Betting Pick: RHE Under 26
The play is the Under 26 with the RHE Prop bet.
