The Mets hit an off day at the beach before beginning their series in Miami, which should be a favorable kickoff with Thor taking this hill against Tom Koehler and the Marlins.
New York Mets
The Mets’ offense features star Yoenis Cespedes, who is putting together one of the best seasons of his career. He sports a .273 Ba with 15 HR, 37 RBI and 31 Runs on the season.
Neil Walker has been a nice surprise at second base, coming over from the Pirates in the offseason.
He’s gathered 13 HR and leads the team in average with .283 on the year.
Syndergaard, aka Thor, has been utterly dominant this season with a 5-2 record, a 1.84 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 81 K.
His fastball sits in the upper 90’s-100 mph and his slider in the low-mid 90’s.
David Price has even commented that Thor is “that video game character you create and max out all of their abilities,” which is high praise from one of the game’s best.
Miami Marlins
The Marlins are suffering a down year from star hitter Giancarlo Stanton, who only has 12 HR on the year and a .210 BA after entering the year fully healthy and with high expectations.
Marcell Ozuna has been a revelation though, hitting .328 with 27 RBI and 10 homers and 65 total hits.
Unfortunately, the rest of the Miami lineup save for Christian Yelich doesn’t leave a whole lot to be desired, especially with speedster 2B Dee Gordon out for half the year with a PED suspension.

Tom Koehler had a productive year in 2014 with a 3.81 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP, but has been league average at best over the rest of his career. This year is no different, he holds a 4.50 ERA and a brutal 1.65 WHIP.
He faces a tough test to gather his 4th win on the year, as Miami isn’t likely to provide a ton of run support against his counterpart Syndergaard.
