The Minnesota Twins have dug themselves quite the whole and they will now look to start the long road back to .500 this Thursday, as they take on the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Minnesota Twins
The pitching has been okay for the Twins so far this year, but their bats are just not what we expected, as they have struggled with clutch hitting and have struggled to stay healthy with only Nelson Cruz and Byron Buxton really impressing at this point in the year.
You feel at some point they are going to get on the right track, but so far they are looking like one of the worst teams in the league and that is especially true when you look at their strength of schedule so far this year.
The Twins will be sending Michael Pineda to the mound here on Thursday and that will give this team a huge boost, as he enters this one with a 2.43 ERA and he is coming off a nice start against the Rangers where he only allowed 2 earned runs.
Chicago White Sox
The White Sox have been red hot in the last couple of weeks going 12 and 4 in their last 16 games and they are beginning to show the promise of both last year’s expectations as well as the expectations of this past offseason.
A nice find for this team has been their catcher Yermin Mercedes, as he has plenty of pop with 5 homers so far, and that is not even the most impressive part, as he is hitting .381 in terms of average which is pretty crazy for any position but especially for a catcher.
Carlos Rodon is the projected starter for this Thursday’s matchup and he has been neck and neck with deGrom all year as to who is having the best start to the season, as Rodon’s numbers are a bit ridiculous, as he enters with a 5-0 record and an ERA of just 0.58. Those numbers are certainly not sustainable over the long term, but he gets an awesome matchup here at home against a Twins team who is not swinging the bat well at all.

Free Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox MLB Prediction:
This should be a lower scoring competitive game, but I like the price here on the home team at -135, as they should have the upper hand here in both batting and on the mound. It is tough to put your money against Rodon the way he has started this season, and this White Sox batting lineup is simply better then the Twins right now, so I really think this price is solid.
