He doesn’t have Jeremy Jeffress at the back of the bullpen to lock things down anymore, but Tyler Thornburg has outstanding number and should be a solid replacement.
San Diego Padres
San Diego has quickly become a focal point of the league, but not for the right reasons.
They have completely stripped their team of talent, trading away their entire rotation and sending Matt Kemp to Atlanta for essentially nothing but $5-million in savings.
Derek Norris could be next during the waiver deadline period.
Due to the roster changes in San Diego, Edwin Jackson (remember him) will take the hill for the Padres.
Jackson was once a relevant starter with strong strikeout numbers, but a propensity for a high WHIP/ walk rate.
He owns an ugly 5.46 ERA and 1.64 WHIP on the season so far in his 11 appearances.
