The Milwaukee Brewers will look to get back to .500 this Saturday, as they take on the Cincinnati Reds at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers have won just 1 game in their previous 6 outings and it is beginning to look as though they are not as good as many people were starting to believe with their batting lineup in particular letting them down in a big way.
This pitching staff, especially the starting rotation, remains one of the MLB’s elite units and that I do not see changing this year, but the fact that they cannot score any runs makes it tough to see them as legit contenders.
Brett Anderson will head to the hill for the Brew-Crew here and he has had a bit of an up and down season so far coming in here with a 2-3 record and a 4.50 ERA. Anderson is coming off of a rough outing against the Braves though giving up 4 earned runs in 3 /23 innings of work, so he certainly will be motivated here and he does get a decent matchup against the reds bats.
Cincinnati Reds
Much like Anderson on the other side of things, the Reds will also be hungry for a big bounce back performance, as they enter this series off the back of a 19-4 home loss against the San Francisco Giants.
The Reds also got some bad news on the injury front with Mike Moustakas being placed on the 10 day injured list due to a heel injury and he was making some decent offensive contributions with 4 home runs on the season so that certainly is a hit to this team going forward.
Sonny Gray has pitched pretty well so far this year with a 3.86 ERA, but he has not had much in the way of run support so far coming into this one with an 0-3 record and given the way the Brewers have been batting you have to like his chances of putting everything together here and putting up a quality start to put this team in a position to win.

Free Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds MLB Prediction:
Despite the question marks hanging over the heads of both of these pitchers, I just do not see enough firepower on either side to get this game over the total, as I full expect Sonny Gray to shutdown the Brewers batting lineup and Brett Anderson is also in a decent enough spot against the Reds batting unit.
The total also seems a bit high here at 8.5, so I think we are getting some line value in this spot as well, as I would have though this one would have been in the 7.5 range.
