Milwaukee’s offense has looked lost over the last four games. The Brewers have only one hitter hitting above .400 (Omar Navarez) while star outfielder Christian Yelich is hitting right on the Mendoza line of .200
The Brewers mustered up just three runs and four hits on Monday in their third loss of the season. To be fair, they have faced some effective pitching, including Michael Pineda and Jose Berrios of the Twins.
The Brewers need more production out of off-season acquisition Kolten Wong, who is batting just .154 so far this season. It is still early, and the Brewers could benefit from the back ends of pitching staffs coming up.
Freddy Peralta gets the start for the Brewers Tuesday. Peralta has been in and out of the roster over the last few years. He started just one game last year and is 3-1 with 3.99 ERA across 15 games since 2018.
Chicago Cubs
The Cubs will look for their fourth win in a row Tuesday after taking two out of three against the Pirates to start the year.
Javier Baez and Daniel Bote both went yard for the Cubs on Monday. The pitching has been the strong suit of the Cubs team thus far, especially the bullpen.
Many of the regular contributors for the Cubs have limped out of the gates to start the year. Baez, Rizzo, Hayward and Bryant are all hitting under .300, which is not a good sign for a Cubs team that needs its big bats to step up to win the NL Central.
Adbert Alzolay takes the bump Tuesday. He has a career 3.15 ERA at Wrigley and has added a slider and a curveball to his arsenal. Alzolay had an ERA of 2.95 in six games last year with a WHIP just above 1.
