The Marlins and Phillies will play game 2 of the series Wednesday night in Philadelphia. Miami sends out the potential NL Cy Young winner in Sandy Alcantara and the Phillies will pitch Noah Syndergaard in his 2nd start with his new team.

Miami Marlins
We are treated to something special on Wednesday night when we get to see Alcantara take the mound. In July, Sandy was 1-1 with a 2.12 ERA in 5 starts. His last start took place in August, when he pitched a 9 inning shutout, giving up 6 hits and striking out 3. In 22 starts this season, Alcantara has went 8 inning plus in 10 of those starts. That kind of stat is really unheard of today’s game of baseball.
On the season, Alcantara is 10-4 with a 1.88 ERA, 1.88!! He throws his changeup the most at 27% and with that pitch, he is giving up a .146 batting average. His xBA on the season is sitting .207 which is pretty incredible. That stat ranks him in the 82nd percentile. Sandy has pitched 158.1 innings this season which ranks him in 1st in that category. He has pitched 14 more innings than the next closest pitcher.
As a team, the Marlins rank 17th in batting average vs rigithies this season, and 20th in OBP. Their best hitter this season vs righties is Garrett Cooper, who is hitting .286 with 7 homers and 35 RBIs this season. A sleeper player prop target in this game is Joey Wendle who is 2-3 with a double vs Syndergaard. Look to target either over .5 total bases or over .5 hits; which ever one gives you better odds!
Philadelphia Phillies
Noah Syndergaard looks to pitch well in his 2nd start for the Phillies. In his debut, he pitched 5 innings, giving up 11 hits and 4 earned runs against the Nationals; which actually picked him up the victory. In 3 starts for the Angels in June, Syndergaard was 0-2 with a 3.68 ERA. During the month, he only gave up a total of 6 runs in those starts.
On the season, Syndergaard is 5-8 with a 3.83 ERA in 15 starts. It’s a nice thing to see Noah back out their after only pitching 2 innings in the 2021 season and missing the full 2020 season. His fastball this season has been about 3.5 MPH slower from before the injury trouble, but he is still able to get the outs that he needs. The average exit velocity he is giving up this season, is close to what he was giving up in his career with the Mets.
Hitting wise, the Phillies rank 10th in batting average vs righties but they rank 18th in OBP vs righties. In the last 30 days, Rhys Hoskins is hitting .259 with 7 homers and 12 RBIs. He is really stepping up after the Phillies lost Harper to the hand injury. Someone I’m looking to target as a prop is JT Realmuto; he is 8-23 against Alcantara leading to a .348 batting average. Other than him, I would just stay away from any other players with this tough pitching matchup they will be facing.
