The Miami Marlins are proving that they are not just an easy win during this rebuilding phase, and they will be sure to make life hard on an Atlanta team who has simply not lived up to the high expectations fans had this past offseason.
Miami Marlins
The one thing that the Marlins management must be happy with, despite the overall teams struggles this year, has to be the starting pitching staff, as they rank in the top 10 of most important statistical categories and I have confidence they will be able to build a winning team around their young starters in the years to come.
You do get the feeling that this Marlins team could make a run at some point this year off the back of their strong pitching, and although it seems unlikely at this point, the season may not be done for them just yet, as they sit only 8.5 games back of the division lead in a wide open NL East.
Zach Thompson will get the call for the Marlins here, and he enters the game with a 2-2 record and a stellar 1.50 ERA, so he may very well be up to the task of shutting down a strong Atlanta Braves batting lineup.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves are in the same wide open division as the Miami Marlins, and that also means that they can win this division if they can get hot even though they have not looked at their best up until this point of the season.
Atlanta’s offense did come alive in a big way against the Mets putting up 20 runs in a game where Ozzie Albies went crazy scoring 7 RBI and if some of these guys around Acuna can also get hot you would still back them to win this division.
Drew Smyly is the projected starter for this one and he has been a guy who has struggled with consistency a bit, although he is coming off of a nice performance against the Reds where he only allowed 1 run over 6 innings and the Marlins do not have near the offense that the Reds do.

Free Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves MLB Prediction:
This Atlanta Braves offense does seem to be hitting their stride, and although Thompson has been decent so far, I do not think he is going to be able to hold down this excellent Braves batting lineup for too long.
It is tough to know what we will get from Smyly, but he did just have a nice outing against one of the best offenses in baseball, so I have to believe he will have a decent enough outing against this weak Marlins batting lineup.
