The Los Angeles Dodgers carry a 2-1 NLDS lead into Game 4 against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, October 7 at Truist Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 8:08 PM ET on TBS, truTV and HBO Max. Dave Roberts and the Dodgers can advance to the NLCS with a victory, while Walt Weiss and Atlanta need a win to force Game 5.
Los Angeles regained control of the series with a 3-1 victory Tuesday night. Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven. Shohei Ohtani and Max Muncy supplied solo home runs before Atlanta finally scored in the ninth.
Atlanta gets another night at home, but Los Angeles brought the considerably more useful 2-1 series lead.
The Braves won Game 2 by a 3-2 score after Los Angeles opened the series with a 5-1 victory.
That leaves Atlanta facing elimination for the first time this postseason. Los Angeles, meanwhile, gets two chances to finish the series after immediately reclaiming home-field advantage in Atlanta.

The Dodgers also finished with one of baseball’s strongest pitching staffs. Los Angeles held opposing hitters to a .217 average during the regular season. When a club can hit and prevent hits, baseball tends to become refreshingly uncomplicated.

I’m comfortable laying -142 because Los Angeles doesn’t need one specific part of its game to carry the night. The Dodgers can beat Atlanta with power, string hits together or turn a close game over to their bullpen.
That’s important in a playoff game because very little goes according to script once the first pitch is thrown. Atlanta may get six strong innings and still have to survive the deepest part of the Dodgers order again late. LA simply has more ways to make nine innings hurt.
The Braves can play a good game tonight and still discover that the Dodgers brought too many bats.
I prefer backing the team trying to finish the series instead of the one trying to save it. Atlanta can’t afford a bad inning, a bad pitching change or one defensive mistake, while the Dodgers can keep applying pressure without needing to force the issue.
And no, -142 isn’t some gift from the betting gods. If those guys existed, they would’ve returned a few of my ninth-inning losses by now.
It’s simply a fair price for the team I trust more over a full 9 innings. Atlanta can make this close, but close still cashes the same ticket when I’m betting the moneyline.
