Dodgers vs. Braves Gameday
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves head to Truist Park for Game 3 of the NLDS with the best-of-five series tied 1-1. First pitch is set for 6:00 PM ET on FS1, and the winner moves within one victory of the NLCS.
Los Angeles finished the regular season 100-62 under Dave Roberts and went 49-32 away from home. The Dodgers opened this series with a 5-3 victory before Atlanta answered Sunday night, so nobody is arriving in Georgia with much room to strut.
Two games down, three possible games left. The warm-up portion of this series is officially over.
Atlanta went 94-68 under Walt Weiss and earned the right to bring the series home by winning Game 2 in Los Angeles. The Braves were 52-29 at Truist Park during the regular season, and that home success matters a little more now that the series has effectively become a best-of-three.
Game 3 carries some historical weight as well.
In postseason best-of-five series tied 1-1, the Game 3 winner has gone on to win the series 48 of 67 times, or 71.6%, which makes Tuesday considerably more important than the usual October Tuesday night.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves Odds & Last 5
The opening odds reflect exactly how little separates these teams entering Game 3. Los Angeles opened -109 on the moneyline and Atlanta -108, essentially asking bettors to pick a side and accept the consequences.
The Dodgers grabbed Game 1 by a 5-3 score, using three home runs to create enough separation.
Teoscar Hernández, Kyle Tucker and Max Muncy supplied the power as Los Angeles landed the first punch in the series.
Atlanta responded with a 3-2 victory in Game 2. Michael Harris II tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the fifth before driving home Matt Olson with a double in the seventh, while six Braves pitchers somehow made the bullpen-game instruction manual look sensible.
Both games stayed Under the total, but they got there differently.
Los Angeles used the long ball to win the opener, while Atlanta squeezed out Game 2 with timely hitting and a pitching plan that gave Weiss considerably fewer headaches than it probably deserved to.

Braves Stats
Atlanta finished the regular season with a .246 batting average and .409 slugging percentage while hitting 204 HR. The Braves weren’t built around one hitter carrying the entire offense, and their lineup has enough different threats to make pitching around one bat a temporary solution.
Matt Olson supplied the biggest power threat with 41 HR, 93 RBI and a .502 slugging percentage while playing all 162 games. Michael Harris II hit .294 with 26 HR and 87 RBI, giving Atlanta another dangerous left-handed bat capable of doing damage without waiting for somebody else to start the inning.
Drake Baldwin added a .284 average, 25 HR and 79 RBI during an impressive season behind the plate.
Ozzie Albies chipped in 22 HR, giving Weiss legitimate production through several spots in the order rather than one obvious place for opposing pitchers to avoid.
Atlanta’s pitching was every bit as important to its 94-win season.
The Braves finished with a 3.63 team ERA and held opposing hitters to a .233 average, giving them enough run prevention to win when the offense isn’t interested in putting up a football score.
Dodgers Stats
Los Angeles finished with a .256 batting average, .337 on-base percentage and .423 slugging percentage. The Dodgers scored 801 runs with a +201 run differential, numbers that explain pretty quickly how they reached triple-digit wins.
Shohei Ohtani hit .275 with 30 HR and 81 RBI despite being limited to 139 games. Freddie Freeman hit .288 with 16 HR, while Mookie Betts remained another difficult out near the top of a lineup that doesn’t provide opposing pitchers with many comfortable places to hide.
Max Muncy supplied another 29 HR, and Los Angeles has enough lineup depth for Roberts to adjust when a left-hander is on the mound.
That flexibility becomes useful against Atlanta because stacking more right-handed bats gives the Dodgers options beyond simply asking their usual lineup to solve a difficult matchup.
The Dodgers also finished with a 3.55 team ERA and held opposing hitters to a .217 average.
Los Angeles reached 100 wins despite spending significant stretches of the season juggling its rotation, which says plenty about the depth Roberts has had available.
Dodgers vs. Braves Pitching Matchup
Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets the Game 3 start for Los Angeles after another excellent regular season. He went 14-9 with a 2.53 ERA, 182 strikeouts and a 0.87 WHIP across 185 innings while giving the Dodgers the kind of stability their rotation didn’t always have elsewhere.
Yamamoto has already seen this Atlanta lineup at Truist Park.
He allowed one run across 6 1/3 innings on August 27, doing more than enough to win on most nights before discovering that the guy pitching for Atlanta had other plans.
That guy was Chris Sale, and the Braves hand him the ball again Tuesday. Sale went 14-9 with a 2.16 ERA, 200 strikeouts and a 0.98 WHIP, finishing with MLB’s third-best ERA.
Atlanta deliberately gave Sale extra rest after he started Game 1 of the Wild Card Series against Philadelphia and then recorded the final four outs of the deciding Game 3.
That kept him out of the first two games in Los Angeles but lines him up at full strength with the NLDS tied.

Sale’s previous meeting with the Dodgers was about as convincing as these things get. He threw a five-hit shutout against them at Truist Park on August 27, outdueling Yamamoto in a 1-0 Atlanta victory.
Now the rematch comes with considerably more attached to it than another line in the regular-season standings.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves bottom line: Yamamoto and Sale get the rematch with the series tied, and Game 3 has all the ingredients for another night where one mistake carries a very expensive price.

Dodgers Braves Free Pick: Braves ML -108
Here is my Dodgers Braves free pick: I’m taking Braves ML -108. At essentially a pick’em price, I’m backing Atlanta at Truist Park with the series reset to a best-of-three and the Braves now holding the home-field edge.
That’s a pretty comfortable place for me to land at -108.
Atlanta doesn’t need to dominate this game for the bet to make sense. I need the Braves to turn home field into one extra scoring opportunity, one cleaner late inning or one mistake from a Dodgers club that now has to win at least once in Atlanta to keep its season moving.
The Dodgers have the bigger name. Fortunately, sportsbooks still pay on runs instead of résumés.
There’s also something I like about backing the team that changed the shape of this series before coming home. Atlanta went to LA, got the split it needed and now gets two cracks at taking control in its own park.
The price is the key. If sportsbooks were asking me to lay -140 or -150, we’d have a different conversation, but -108 isn’t charging me much for the home side in what should be another tight game.
I’ll take that deal and let Los Angeles prove it can take home field back.
Give me Braves ML -108.
