The Angels took Thursday’s opener 6-4, snapping a three-game losing streak and improving to 8-5 against Seattle this season. Christian Moore drove in three runs, while Zach Neto and Vaughn Grissom each collected two hits.
Seattle has three games left to salvage something from 2026; the Angels keep making that job unnecessarily difficult.
Julio Rodríguez homered and drove in two for Seattle on Thursday, but the Mariners couldn’t overcome an early five-run deficit. Seattle has now dropped four of its last five.

Mariners Stats
Seattle enters Friday hitting .232 with a .312 on-base percentage and .378 slugging percentage. The Mariners have hit 179 home runs, giving the lineup enough power to change a game even when the traffic on the bases isn’t particularly heavy.
Rodríguez remains the obvious problem in the middle of the order.
He homered Thursday and now has 30 home runs with 93 RBIs, while Randy Arozarena has supplied another 25 homers. Cole Young and Dominic Canzone have also given Seattle some useful production down the stretch.
The Mariners have averaged 4.1 runs per game this season.
Pitching has been less consistent, with Seattle carrying a 4.20 team ERA into the final weekend. The staff has allowed opponents to hit .251, putting more pressure on Miller to rediscover the form he showed earlier in the year.
Seattle’s bullpen also lost an important piece when Andrés Muñoz went on the injured list after leaving Saturday’s game in Colorado with an arm injury.

Bryce Miller counters for Seattle at 4-9 with a 3.99 ERA and 1.15 WHIP.
He’s struck out 112, but the second half hasn’t been nearly as clean. Miller has posted a 6.15 ERA over his last seven starts, making his season ERA a little prettier than his current form.

That gives Friday’s pitching matchup an obvious lean toward Detmers.
Miller doesn’t have to match him pitch for pitch, but Seattle needs five useful innings before turning this over to a bullpen operating without Muñoz. Against an Angels offense averaging fewer than four runs, that’s hardly an unreasonable request.

Here is my Angels Mariners free pick: I’m taking Under 7.5. Reid Detmers has quietly turned into a pretty nasty assignment, carrying a 3.47 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 204 strikeouts into Friday night. More importantly for this wager, he’s been even better down the stretch.
Detmers owns a 1.84 ERA over his last seven starts. Seattle has some power, but T-Mobile Park isn’t exactly known for handing out cheap offense, and Detmers gives Los Angeles a legitimate chance to keep the Mariners from doing much damage early.
Detmers gives this Under its foundation; Miller only needs to avoid turning the middle innings into an adventure.
Bryce Miller is the uncomfortable part. His 3.99 season ERA is respectable, but he’s carrying a 6.15 ERA across his last seven starts. That’s enough to keep me from pretending this total is some kind of gift.
Still, the Angels are hitting only .234 and averaging 3.8 runs per game. If Miller can give Seattle five reasonably clean innings, both bullpens should have enough room to get this home.
The roof also removes the rain from the betting equation, so I’m not using Seattle weather to manufacture an Under case.
