LA Dodgers
Clayton Kershaw is on the bump for the Dodgers which means the Padres won’t score many in this game. However, I don’t see the Dodgers scoring much in this one either.
I look at the Dodgers lineup and I’m not crazy about it. There are holes in this lineup. Aside from Adrian Gonzalez this isn’t a lineup that strikes fear in the opposition.

The Dodgers don’t have a real lead off hitter (Dee Gordon sure would be nice right about now), Howie Kendrick is solid, but not spectacular.
Will Justin Turner hold up and does he provide enough power in the clean up spot? A lot of question marks with this team.
Where will the Dodgers generate their offense? They’ll have to find someone to step up in this game and more importantly as the season progresses.
San Diego Padres
Tyson Ross is taking the mound opening day for the San Diego Padres and I feel this is going to be his breakthrough year.
Ross has quietly been a quality pitcher for the last couple of years and feel he will take that next big leap forward this year and be in the Cy Young conversation.

The Padres are going to struggle against Kershaw, but I do feel they’ll be able to scratch a run or two off Kershaw and that might be enough. The player to watch for the Padres is Matt Kemp.
Kemp still has a chip on his shoulder after being traded by the Dodgers last offseason. He responded by playing well against them last year, including on opening day against Kershaw and the Dodgers. Look for him to do some damage again this year.
