Houston Astros
At the moment, the Astros are the best team in baseball. They are winners of their last 9 games.
At 45-28, they are 1st in the American League West. They hold a slim 1 game lead over the Athletics.
They have won the first 2 games against the Orioles. Their most recent win was on Tuesday when they beat the Orioles 3-1.
Zack Greinke was very effective on Tuesday. He went 7.1 innings and allowed 1 run.
Luis Garcia has been solid so far this year. He has a 5-4 record with a 2.69 ERA. His last start came against the White Sox on June 18th. He went 7 innings, allowed 1 earned run, and struck out 8 men.
The pitching for this team has been good this year. They have a 3.57 ERA which is 8th best in baseball.
Their offense has been great this year and is currently the best in baseball. Houston is scoring an impressive 5.64 runs per game. They have scored 40 runs in their last 6 games.
Third baseman Alex Bregman is out with a quad strain and does not have a timetable for his return. With him gone, the offense has still been rolling. Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, and Michael Brantley are some of their key hitters.
This club has blasted 96 home runs which is 7th best in baseball.
Detroit Tigers
After a brutal start, the Tigers have actually improved their play this year. They have won 5 of their last 8 games.
Their record is 31-42 which puts them last in the American League Central. The White Sox are 12 games ahead of them.
On Tuesday, they took the 1st game against the Cardinals by a score of 8-2.
Starter Tarik Skubal went 4.2 innings and allowed 2 runs against the red birds.
Jose Urena has really struggled this year. He is 2-7 with a 5.79 ERA. His last start came on Friday against the Angels where he went 4.1 innings and allowed 7 earned runs.
Pitching has not been great for this team year. They are 21st with a 4.53 ERA.

Houston Astros vs. Detroit Tigers MLB Prediction:
It is no surprise that the Astros are such heavy favorites on the road.
I look for the Astros to keep rolling in this game and series. Their recent stretch of games is the best they have played the whole year and I think that will continue Thursday. Despite the Tigers sweeping them earlier in the year, they are nowhere close to the Astros.
The pitching advantage clearly goes to Houston. Luis Garcia has impressed as a rookie and could be a cornerstone in their rotation in years to come. On the other hand, Jose Urena is the same guy he was with the Marlins. I feel that Garcia will be able to pitch very effectively against the Tigers and Houston will be able to hit around Urena. The Astros have been making me money lately, so I will keep riding them. Also, I have little confidence in this Tigers squad.
I’m going with Houston on the run line.
