What are the Indians going to be this season? I am worried that the offense is going to be worse than anticipated, to the point that if they are not the best pitching team in the league they are going to struggle.
Detroit Tigers
The Tigers won their opening series against the Indians and then lost their series to Minnesota. A 3-3 start is solid but they have to be concerned about the offense, they have not scored more than 6 runs in a game yet. Miguel Cabrera is not hitting his weight and they still need him to be a threat in their lineup.
Julio Teheran is on his third team in three seasons. Last year he was a disaster for the Angels but he has already beaten this Indians team once this season.
Detroit has not shown much in the bullpen this season. That group needs to improve if the Tigers are going to be competitive. I am not holding out a ton of hope for that group though.
Cleveland Indians
The Indians have played five games and scored more than four runs just once. Shane Bieber can only start once every five days and that level of offense is putting a lot of pressure on the other arms.
This is the same matchup as the second game of the season. In that one, Zach Plesac pitched well enough to win – 6IP, 2ER- but the Indians only backed him up with a couple of runs.
The Tribe’s pen looks like it can do the job this season. They question is whether they are protecting leads or trying to keep the team in the game n case the offense can score.
