MLB RunLine Betting Odds: Twins -1.5 (+160)
MLB Baseball Gambling Total: 6.5
The Twins are late to name a starter for the first leg of Tuesday’s double header against the Indians, yet oddsmakers are still expecting this to be a low scoring affair with a run total of just 6.5. It is supposed to be a little bit cooler day with temps in the 70s in the Twin Cities, but you’d expect a 15 MPH wind blowing in with that line.
The Indians go with Triston McKenzie who has been solid with 3 ER allowed total over his last four starts – but wouldn’t Cleveland be the favorite if he’s the reason for the low run total? Instead Minnesota is -135, with seemingly great value on Cleveland at +113.
Cleveland Indians
Cleveland has some value with McKenzie on the mound, but he may have to win a 1-0 game the way this Indians offense is playing. The Brewers beat Cleveland 11-1 on Sunday to complete the three game sweep at Progressive Field in which Milwaukee outscored the hosts 24-4.
Sure the Brewers have a solid pitching staff, but Cleveland has now been held to 2 runs or less in 5 of their last 7 overall. Minnesota hasn’t named a starter for the first game of Tuesday’s double header, but that’s probably just because there’s a line of pitchers waiting to get a crack at this slumping offense.
Is it really that bad for the Cleveland offense lately – the answer to that would be yes. The team has hit just 3 HR over the past week and Oscar Mercado (3 for 8) is the only player hitting better than .225 over the past 6 games. Franmil Reyes has struck out 11 times in his last 21 AB as well.
Looking at those offensive numbers doesn’t make Triston McKenzie (4-6, 4.44 ERA) but he’ll just go out there and do his part regardless. The lanky right-hander has allowed 2, 0, 1, 1, and 1 ER over his last five starts never issuing more than 1 walk in those outings.
Minnesota Twins
Cleveland had Monday off to try and regroup from a tough weekend, but Minnesota had to go the Bronx for a make-up game with the Yankees. The Twins took a 4-0 lead after the 1st inning, but ultimately let the Yankees chip away for a 6-5 win.
For as rough of a stretch that Cleveland has had lately, Minnesota hasn’t been a whole lot better. The Twins did take 3 of 4 last week at Progressive Field, but have dropped 3 of their last 5 overall including letting the Royals take 2 of 3 over the weekend at Target Field.
Being at Target Field doesn’t do Minnesota any favors on Tuesday, as they’ve dropped 5 of the last 6 on their own field. They were able to get to McKenzie for 6 runs over 3-1/3 back in a 10-0 win in May, but were stifled for just 3 hits over 6 innings in McKenzie’s last start on Wednesday.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:

- Indians are 1-6 last 7 overall
- Indians are 0-4 last 4 opening games of a double header
- Twins are 4-1 last 5 vs. a RH starter
- Twins are 1-4 last 5 overall
- Twins are 1-5 last 6 home games
- Twins are 10-2 last 12 head to head in Minnesota
Free Cleveland Indians vs. Minnesota Twins MLB Prediction:
There’s value on both sides in this one. Minnesota has owned Cleveland in the Twin Cities winning 10 of the last 12, but are also burned up 6 relievers in Monday’s loss to the Yankees while Cleveland had an off day.
Minnesota also hasn’t named their starter, and Joe Ryan could go either in the day or the night of a double header coming off a 1-hitter in just his 2nd MLB start. If Ryan goes in the nightcap, that gives McKenzie and the Indians an obvious edge during the day.
4* Free MLB Betting Pick: Indians +104
Hard to back Cleveland with how bad their offense has played lately, but the Indians did have an off day to regroup on Monday.
